Windows COA banned?

Last week you reinstalled, then what, did you activate afterwards, or did these problems start when you attempted to activate?

Something seems very amiss here.
Its the first time I have heard of this happening, and I wonder if it is as SirusB mentions, you may have been unlucky enough to have a legit key that someone has atcually used elsewhere.

As for marmalade suggestion, taking them to the small claims court.... yeah thats an easy process.

I assume you have entered the key exactly right?

If you've still got the receipt and can prove you bought it from an authorised retailer I don't see why they wouldn't unblock it or give you a new one.

I've never heard of this happening with a normal retail licensing, but I think it is fairly common with volume licences were it is shown that the keys are being used against the terms of the licence. I'm guessing people using cracks / loaders are using your key and you have just been unlucky. I'm not sure what you can do if this is the case ;/

Depends if they are suspicious ********. If it is due to the key being used elsewhere, they could take the view he is the one who allowed it to be used elsehwere, unwittingly or not! :p

It is a crappy situation.

Slightly odd you left trying to activate until today though.

All I can think of is someone has tried to install 7 using his key [a family member, mate, whatever] .

you can stick the serial on several machines (forget the legality) and not have an issue... worst case it will stop you activating automatically and make you call MS and lie about it only being installed on 1 PC...

edit i see you screen shots... eep... shame its not a home premium copy in which case you can go to pcw and copy a serial off the side of a PC on display which would have course be illegal...

I had something similar a while ago when windows failed to activate, I used the automatic phone process which then failed and I got put through to a real person who sorted things after and explanation.

Does the Contact Micorsoft option not lead you to a phone number with a human contact?

Andi.

Because having a kosher copy and licence doesn't preclude you from installing it on several of your own machines - which is what they'll assume you've done and you'll have a hard time proving otherwise.

The screeny says 26 days to activate so it's been like that for four days? Perhaps try using the Microsoft Windows Product Key Update tool (Google it, it's on the MS store iirc)? Watch out for 8 B G C P F etc which are easy to mix up ;)

it dose not say the key is wrong is say it's banned

I have seen this happen and the guy ended up faxing MS a copy of the receipt and the COA, and he got sent another.
