Hi,

I have a weird problem. I used to think that either memory works or it doesn't.

I have some Coirsair TwinX PC2-8500, and my Windows 7 PC tends to crash as soon as it gets to "Starting Windows". However, after lots of restarting/running for a while, it boots fine.

I had been using this RAM for nearly two years beforehand. Nothing else has changed recently.

When I then run the most aggressive memory test I can (using Windows), it reports that everything is OK.

What kind of problem could this be? I don't want them to reject the RMA if they test the RAM and it is fine.

Try running mem test, this makes a bootable ISO so you can run during the boot process.

Have you checked the BIOS for the ram settings just in case this has changed, voltage tends to 2.1v.

What are your other settings. And why did you (or do you) assume that it is memory?

Could you try different slots of your motherboard when you run memtest. I am suggesting that the intermittent fault could be memory slot related.
