Is it possible to use my windows mobile device as a secondary monitor in windows Vista?

No. I think there's apps you can run on them that talk to your PC to put information on there, but you won't be dragging a window onto them any time soon.

I'm sure I've seen articles in the past explaining how you can make it work, but I can't find anything any more. I really can't believe no one has developed anything to make this possible, seems like a bit of a no brainier to me :(

Really? I'm finding it hard to think of a scenario where it'd be useful

Surely downscaling a high res video onto a small display would make it look very nasty?

Only if your using ye olde "nearest neighbour" to downscale, "bicubic" and espically "lanczos" are perfect.

What your asking for can't be done, the best you are going to get is possibly by setting up a media server program on your pc that transcodes videos on the fly that the ppc can access.
