Recently i purchased a quad core Q6600 and the Abit I35-PRO.

Because the IDE port was in full use on the MB with 2 hard disks, i had to use an IDE > SATA converter for my IDE DVD Writer.

Problem is whenever the converter is plugged into the DVD Writer windows will not boot at all, or will boot very slowly with little or no HDD activity....

Anyone know of what could be the problem?

why don't you try with the dvdrw set as slave on the ide port (assuming you only have 1) with 1 of the hard drives as master and the second hdd connected to the Sata port?

also your system spec may help :)

Intel Quad Q6600 / 2GB Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 @ 5/5/5/18 2T
Abit I35-Pro / 700W EZCool Infinity

Have tried with one of the hard disks using the converter and it gave me a boot failure screen
