Windows Xp and an old laptop

I need some advice, links etc. I have installed XP pro on an old laptop it runs OK but i would link to disable any unneeded features to get it going a little better.

Any tips or good links cheers

Set the Performance and Settings to "Adjust for best performance".

Turn off the fancy GUI (go back to windows classic)

Go into Add/Remove Windows Components and uncheck everything that you done need.

Also found it needs at least 192Mb RAM to function at any speed that resembles useable. Doesn't seem to matter how slow the processor or hard disk is, with 128Mb RAM or less it is painful.

I survived plenty well enough playing games on an XP machine for over a year on a 700Mhz with 128 RAM.

More is better, but 128 I found was enough

nlite tbh. I've just done this on a semi decent laptop Athlon xp2800 and 1gb of ram and it flies.

Lets you remove pretty much everything, then I just added XPISE to it!

Result, one MEGA fast laptop that my other half cant shaft!!!
