Hey all,

Recently installed windows 7 (64) and all is good, but my sata DVDRW is no longer working, I can see the drive but if I put any cd into it nothing loads :/
It installed windows7 fine on it and it worked fine with Vista64 so whats wrong now? have googled and seen a few problems/solutions but nothing has worked.
Its a Samsung Writemaster drive, have checked samsung for firmware update and its the latest, is this drive just not compatible with win7? but if I buy another sata dvd drive will I have the same problem :S

Any help is appreciated!

I use a TS-H653L drive (not sure if this info is any use to you) and that works fine (SATA). No idea what to suggest other than looking in your BIOS perhaps for SATA emulation modes?

Yea tried all the sata emulation modes and no luck, just strange as it was working fine with xp,vista, installed windows 7 but wont actually work in win7

Done the registry thing, only had upperfilters though, but that didnt fix it either, will check if I can still boot from it :)

Grrrr somethings seriously screwed lol, wont boot from the drive either now :/ and even weirder is the IDE dvd-rw that I plugged back in is playing up now, the only thing that will load is the windows7 dvd, wont recognise any other media.
This asus mobo has two sata emulators, what should they both be set too?

Also dont know if its related but after I restarted, steam would not load up, and said something about wont run properly in windows compatable mode or something :S maybe my windows installation is buggered? or does not like my mobo? :(
