Windscreen stone chip on motorway

After school today, I thought I'd go for a drive, so I got onto the M4, and just as I joined the motorway from the slip road, something caught my eye in front of me, next second... CRACK!

A largish stone flew up from the pickup van in front of me, and made a little crack on my windscreen. The crack is around 1cm in diametre, and it seems to have hit the windscreen in two places, both a very close distance apart, though I cannot feel the crack from the inside of the screen. I've got some pictures below, but the quality isn't very good, as the light was fading and it was very windy - couldn't hold camera still.

What I want to know is, does that look serious, will it get worse over time, and whether I should leave it or get it repaired?

Do you have any rough ideas how much it would cost to get that crack repaired? I'm guessing it may be quite a lot.

MOT isn't until next summer, so plenty of time to get it sorted.

I'll have a look on the weekend, but have you any ideas how much the guy will charge to carry out the repair if I approach him?

I'm assuming thats going through the insurance and making a claim of some sort? :confused:

Alrite guys, thanks for the options, I'll sort it out tomorrow morning!

I just want to get it fixed before the chip could potentially turn into a crack. Read that it could happen, but that was on the Autoglass website... so it might be sales talk. Either way, I'm just hoping to get it done relatively soonish.
