Winter 2010/2011 whats likely to happen?

England will fall apart, because there's a little snow. Scotland will continue as normal and wonder what the big deal is. There'll be nothing but doom on the news because of it and people will get mighty stressed and turn into idiots. Though, as said, Scotland will continue on but be very confused as to why the Southerners can't handle a bit of snow.

Actually, your average English person will take it in their stride just as they take most things in their stride. It's the media that will report it all as chaos. At least you didn't buy into it. Oh wait...

I wish people would put some thought into the reasons why we grind to a halt with bad winters. It's because in general we don't have winters like last year and therefore to design our infrastructure, services etc to cope with such a winter would be a complete waste of money. That means when a severe winter does come along we grind to a halt for a few days, the economy loses a couple of hundred million and the media go mental. The alternative would be to spend billions making sure we are prepared for such an event and either cut other services or raise taxes.
If severe winters become the norm then of course we'll have to re-think things.

Canadians will lol @ "massive 2 inch snow drift closes m25" headline

I'd like to see a Canadian drive a rear wheel drive car with summer tyres on 2inches of snow. Wish people would stop going on about this. If we aren't used to snow we aren't going to cope very well with it are we?

It's not like it's some once in a hundred year event it happens every year.

Snow I don't mind, it's the trying to walk down my road, with it's crazy cambers, when it's a sheet of ice (not helped by muppets using warm water to try and defrost their car and thus creating large sheets of ice in front of their drives).

At least working from home is an option if I can get in at least once to grab a laptop ....

Yup, maybe this year we'll stop gritting most of the pavements!

Having said that it didn't bother me much, just stuck on my winter shoes and carried on like normal. You plimsole users are unlucky though. :p

It's not anything like every year here in the SE, or where I grew up in Lancashire - Wales might be different. Until people are required to fit winter tyres or snow chains (both of which would be a colossal waste of money for this country) we're always going to struggle with snow.

snow will cover the north of britain, people won't care.. snow lands in london, the whole country craps itself, declares a state of emergency and resorts to the trident system as a last resort..

I can't see it being profitable for companies, but we should allow people to do their 'own thing' and clear whatever, or cut grass if they like.

I've notice the house get a bit colder over the last few days, it feels like its slipping in slowly!

Better get the suspension rebuilt and engine in soon! :/
