Winter 2024/25 - Cold or Mild? Rain or Snow?

No frost last night too windy the night before that was a doozy car was well iced up inside and out. Storm rain and wind tomorrow so back to normal then floods have been strangely absent thus far

Fed up with this snow already. We have been getting a extra couple of inches every night this week on top of what we already have so there's around 10" where it hasn't been cleared. Temps have been around zero during the day and well below zero at night. It's dropping very quickly now. At 16.00 it was 0.1 degrees but by 17.00 was -2.6 degrees and by 18.00 was -3.7 degrees. It's -4.3 right now but no wind. Storm Bert (great name and reminds me of Trapdoor) is supposed to give us lots of snow and wind over the weekend so even more to come. I am fed up clearing our cul-de-sac of snow every day by myself but if I don't do it then it won't be done as we don't get the council in here and they haven't been around for three days anyway.

Crispy here tonight.

The BBC has banged on this week about 10 feet of snow, 180mph winds and temperatures of -45C, but as always, Stafford had the usual icing sugar dusting on the rooftops on Tuesday morning which was melted by lunchtime. No more for the rest of the week, and it's now Saturday 19:45 and it's 14C outside. Meanwhile, my Stoke colleagues 16 miles up the road from Stafford have had snow all week.

Of course, if the BBC says we're going to a have 40C summer, then we're guaranteed to get it :(

No fun driving home earlier, and we seem to have missed the worst of it here, tons of water on the road but fortunately no real flooding. For a wonder all the drivers I encountered were being sensible.

Well the LNG intakes are planning for a cold snap at some point.

At least 10 lng tankers in the last two weeks.

But they aren’t flowing much at all

So I expect they are hedging their bets on a cold still period after the storm passes

Gales and more gales, at least its dry today. Town's xmas tree blew down scaffolding on a block of flats collapsed into the street, the usual fun stuff. Tired of it already.

Ludicrously mild today 15c outside! Barely need a coat at all

Pretty stormy today. Hoping to give the car a quick blast with some snow foam before it chucks it down with rain again. With the temperature change every surface in my gym is covered with a stack of condensation and my dehumidifier doesn’t seem to have kicked in.

The dew point raised massively over the last couple of days, which will have caused all the condensation everywhere.
