The casting that will be most interesting for me will be Brienne of Tarth; one of the few major characters of the series who hasn't been introduced yet. It will be hard to find anyone with the right build and looks, and with acting ability, I think, so I'm wondering if they'll uglify someone.

Yeah it's not the sort of role many actresses would want I imagine. Speaking of The Tudors I always wonder if Joss Stone was aware of Anne of Cleeves' fate as a wife of Henry VIII when she signed the contract to play her. My top tip for Brienne - the woman who plays Starbuck in BSG, give her a crap haircut, a few uneven facial features and you're there I reckon.

She's only about 5'6 though isn't she?

Might want to remove that. By saying that they are a big character is in a way a spoiler.

Not really - there are lots of main characters in the series, who come and go. Sometimes literally. What was a big spoiler was the way I carefully avoided assigning a gender, only to have every other person mention that she was a she. Given that you first (in the book) meet her in full armour, it's a little shock lost.

Same as with hinting on the main characters dying, it's still a spoiler of sorts. Definitely need a separate thread for the books... can someone not just make one?

Given that Ned's death has shown that "big character" and "characters dying" are pretty much unrelated, I still don't see an issue about mentioning that a person is introduced and becomes major. If I'd mentioned certain major events and even hinted at what happens at them, that would obviously be something else. But we've established already, via a head on a spike, that no-one is safe.

Yes we know ned dies, we have watched it on TV... But we didn't know beyond doubt that other 'major' characters died.

That's what Ned's death signifies though. It's the major event and catalyst for the whole story.

*bangs head against brick wall*

The point is that we have no insight into the next series or books other than what we have seen in the first series, so every plonker that comes here and hints at more major characters dying (not speclating ,they are saying it happens) is just being a pain in the arse, and im sure they realise it. It doesn't matter what they or anzone else thinks is "obvious", you are still spoling things for others even if it's only in a tiny way.

Thing I want to happen (my own musings not based on anything, I haven't finished reading the first book yet)

Joffrey and Cersei must both die a horrible painful death
Rob to become King
Jon Snow to become Lord Commander of the Night's Watch
Tyrion to find some happiness somewhere
Jamie Lannister can naff off somewhere, I don't really care about him at the mo, same goes for Sansa
Arya to become a strong fighter and leader and to be reunited with Nymeria
Bran to grow into a strong Lord of Winterfell

Don't really care for Dany, she can go play with her dragons somwhere

I'd play with Dany's dragon ;)
ANyway, i started rewatching the series, and one of the first lines Jamie says to tyrion when he finds him in the local winterfell brothel is 'Our sister wants you, she requires you special talents'...
Was she humping the Imp as well? As we've seen her humping two of her brothers thus far, but I was still left to ponder if Tyrion knows or doesn't know of the twins naughtiness, and if he is truely a Lannister (all for the family etc) or if he will be his own man?
