Winter tyres

Last year we had a couple bad weeks, my car got stuck once, in 20cm snow, so resting on it belly, and below that was a sheet of ice anyway. A humble golf (very low too) on vredestein sportracs

could people stop saying it only lasted 2 weeks ? not everyone lives down south..

it lasted 2 month up here, it all depends where you live unless you want everyone to move to your area everywinter matt82 ?

the op is a ****

their has been upto date threads about this subject, if you cant be bothered to look, i cant be bothered to help

Winter tyres are for WINTER, we dont have winter. The last two years we had a MAX of 2 days with snowy roads. Sure if you live in the middle of the lakedistrict, peaks or wales etc maybe get some all season tyres, but full on winter tyres for a few days of snow?

Oh and my car did fine on Continental CS3's on the worst day of last year. My main issues was idiots in 4x4s thinking because they can get moving ok they can fly around braking at the last possible moment.

And to the OP, cant be bothered to look at the last 2 pages? Theres been a winter tyre thread almost every day for the last week!

It seems all the reviews cover either the Kumho and / or the Nankang as cheaper winter tyres, nobody (as fas as I can find) has reviewed the Falken Eurowinter HS-439

Only reason I'm bothered is that I've bought some :s

I very nearly went for these but couldn't find anything* about them anywhere :(

*Edit- not quite true but nothing that compared them to anything else. The ones I went for had a little more feedback but it was still a bit of a punt.

To the OP, pick up this month Evo Magazine (the one with the new M5 on the cover), they have a multi-page feature on winter tyres and benchmark about 8 different makes against summer sport tyres.

Is there anywhere online with these benchmarks so I can be see if my bridgestone blizzaks rank very well?

Think we might be needed our winter tires soon as the weather forecast is predicting some low temps in the next week or 2.

I bought a set of winter tyres for £190 with like 7mm tread on them.

It's not really an expense because you just won't be using your summer tyres!
