Ok i did read the stickies, but i have an inability to pick out the bits relevent. Im fairly sure i know whats going on but this is just to make sure i do...

Parts of the network:

ADSL/Router
4 PCs
2 Laptops

The router isnt a wireless one.
All the PCs connect to the router via a nice long cable :)
I would like to use a PCI wireless card i have in one of the PCs to connect the two laptops to the network.
Do i need special software or is it included in Windows XP?
What sort of resources does having 2 laptops connected through your pc use (i dont mean bandwidth wise, like processor wise, will it be noticable?)

you would have to have the pc on all the time to use the wifi on the laptops, wouldn't it be easier to get a wireless access point and add that to the network.

Otherwise, no special software is reuired for your idea, as far as I know. You just need to set up the wireless netwrk interface to use ad hoc mode, then point them at the pc as the default gateway.
