Currently have a wireles belkin modem/router downstairs for my pc and xbox in the back bedroom, and want to junk this setup for a wired network in the front/spare bedroom.

Definately getting a adsl/phone socket plate to replace the std bt front plate and dangly microfilter that always gets knocked when hoovering

Heres a couple of options im thinking of going for
1. Dlink DSL 300T modem setup downstairs with 8m long ethernet cable running through the wall outside and back in to the front bedroom connected to a Dlink DI-604 router upstairs
2. 8m long adsl modem cable running again through the wall outside and back into the front bedroom connected to a DLink DSL-504T modem/router.

My budget is £100ish, and both the above options leave me plenty of change, i'd like to know if its possible to run the cables on the outside of the house without fear of the elements shorting the cables out.

i wouldent use the DSL-300T gives us problems, i would get some CAT5 made with RJ11 connectors and run that outside. (cat3 is more than enough for this, but i don't think it easily avaialbe or for the home consumer cheaper than cat5)

Unless your elements are metallic elements then cat5 is happy outside. Probably easier to use wireless but if you want wired then what you suggest is fine. Tho you don't need 2 routers, router and a switch will be cheaper and better.
