im in a house at uni with cable but want to sort out a wireless connection!
we have cable but dont to have one computer on for the connection to work just want it so we can all use regardless of which computer is on or off if that makes sense? can people suggest any good modems and everything i need! also does it matter having 3 laptops and one pc???

It isn't a wireless modem you need, it is a wireless router.

Linksys WRT54GS is a good choice. You'd just plug a network cable between the network port on the cable modem and the WAN port on the WRT.

I can't really make it much clearer. You asked for a wireless modem, I said that the product you need is a wireless router and gave you a suggested brand and model number.

sorry mate really hungover today! not much is makin sense!!
so just need that modem and then for the pc which kind of wireless card should i get?? like pci card for a usb one??

Router, not modem.

You'd need one of the routers and a wireless card for each PC that you needed to use wirelessly. Personally I'd avoid USB for anything network related and go for PCI wireless cards.

It is a good idea to get cards from the same manufacturer as the router, in this case a Linksys WMP54GS per PC.
