Hey all

I'm looking at getting a new ADSL modem/router since my current Netgear DG834G is getting a bit unreliable. I'm looking for something that'll be rock solid and won't keep dropping connections. After some looking it seems Draytek would be the best bet. I'm thinking of the Vigor 2710n since the 2820n seems like overkill. Is this a good choice?

I also want to upgrade to gigabit ethernet. Seems the HP Procurve Switch 1400-8G gets a lot of recommendations. Should I go with this?

Thanks

A little ProCurve as you've already mentioned would be my choice.

The 2820n has a lot more features when it comes to QoS etc. so if that is / could be important to you then consider spending the extra. The 2820n also uses a Broadcom chipset, widely regarded as being one of the better ones available for ADSL which IIRC the 2710 does not.

Had the ProCurve as Xmas present - fabulous piece of kit and I've got gigabit speeds on all my connections (bar my link to my DG834GT which is 100Mb which is its max)

Thanks for the replies. Think I'm settled on the ProCurve then. I might stretch to the 2820n if it's going to be more reliable with the Broadcom chipset. The extra features aren't the most important thing at the moment, but it may be handy to have more options in the future with VPN and such.
