I have fitted my zalman vf900 to my HIS x1900xt, however i can only control this via the zalman fanmate, i want to software control the fan through a utility like rivatuner.

the standard 3 pin connector on the vf900 is bigger than the small 3 pin header on the x1900xt however there is a red, white and black wire on each connector in the same order.

could i cut the wires on each connector 1" back and solder the small connector onto the vf900 so i can control the vf900 via software?

will this work ??

well nodody replied so i gave it a go, snipped the wires and connected them red to red, black to black, white to white, then fitted the small fan connector onto the gfx card board, the fan work fine and i can adjust it with sofware to any speed, so much easier than using the fan mate.

so it works hey presto :D

Did the oposite thing myself with a 6600gt that rivatuner wouldnt play ball with. Connected it to a header on the mb and controlled it that way using speedfan.

Glad it worked for you :)

I got a couple of VF700's last week to bring life back into my 6600GT SLI PC ( Dont have a go, Its only for fun and I like it ) - But the 6600GT only has a 2-way while the VF has 3

I am kind of 50-50 on doing what you guys have, however, a bit of patience later and the wiring is nice and tidy on both cards so I have not bothered... I still might however cos I would have preferred no cables rather than tidied upc cables much like I did with the rest of the case - you cannot see a thing only the VF700 cables you see...
