No it wasn't, it was £10 less but you also had to pay court costs. Court costs are not a fine.

those court cost are not always charged. i saw most cases today where they where not issued.

the court costs are still a kind of fine arent they. i mean at the end of the day i am not going to turn around and say "Thanks for doing all this paper work for me, here is £35 for your trouble" am i

It's a stupid system. When I was taken go court for a CD10 (which wasn't my fault, long story) I was given a fine of £400. I had to provide a payslip which showed my monthly earnings upon which the fine was determined. A week later a guy from down the road was fined £100 for stealing a car, joyriding it and taking out 2 police cars in the chase that ensued.

Now where is the sense in that?

I lol'd.

Thats the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. So the less you earn the less you have to pay?

I was on £250 a month total when I got caught 3 years ago, it was an FPN so no income questions at all.

I think he should have been fined more than that.

Just like everyone who has ever recieved a NIP, you had the choice to attend court where any fine imposed would be means tested.

.... 150 miles from where I live.......

£50 fine is pathetic for near double the speed limit, sorry, it just is.

The fine isn't going to be the issue, it'll be the long-term effect of Mr Insurance coming along with his large friend bubba to dish out the rectal fines that will punish stinky the most. 3 point on your licence isn't bad on insurance, 5 points = rubber ring & tube of germaloids.

exactly.

its not my fault what they give me is it. all i did was filled in the form, i was supprised at the fine amonut tbh, but for me thats a lot of work. thats over a month without a social life. - if i was earning ££££££ then it would be perfetic yea but not for someone that is earning hardly anything a week

They probably saw that you were a decent member of society, and this was merely a first offence - As a decent member of society you were more willing to be bent over, taken from behind and still smile at the judge for the pleasure of his company.

You got a £50 fine? Huh?

How come I got a £60 fine and 3 points for a lesser offence
I don't know the exact circumstances of either offence but perhaps they took the prevailing conditions into account, as so many people claim they should do rather than just looking at the raw numbers?

The only other possibility that occurs is the state of your licenses prior to the incidents. Did you already have points? Did Stinky?

I was done for 80 on an empty dual carriageway and had no previous points :(

Aye, but you are also in the fortunate position of not being ram-raided by the big bad insurance man. When i got done (back in them days...) it was a £40 fine and 3 points. I was doing 70 on a dual carriageway, last thing at night . First time I'd driven the road and was spending too much time concentrating on 1) not speeding and 2) the road ahead. Didn't wash with the copper who did me there and then as it was actually a 50 zone. a week later, a mate gets a warning for doing 100mph in a 70 zone - what can you do?

I wrote my first reply in my lunch break and I hoped that when I got back home (now) that the £50 fine was actually a typo and should have been £150... Guess not. Once again I find it quite shocking that you only got a £50 fine :(

You should (and probably are) VERY thankful and relieved. You got off very lucky imo. Well done :)

Reading these posts I find that just about sums up the ****-about-face laws in this country, not that I'm having a go at the OP though. :)

sorry lol

i am very happy with the outcome and do accept that i was lucky. although i made a lot more effort than some poeple at that court today.

i turned up looking smart and presentable (suit etc) i was the only one, the rest were all in jeans and a t-shirt. i felt really odd lol.

maybe they saw that i wasnt like the rest they had seen that moring?? maybe it made a difference?
