Evening guys!

Well i have my RAF aptitude test on tuesday 10th oct, and im so nervous! Im applying to be communications and information systems specialist, and if i dont get into the RAF there isnt really anything i want to do in life :(. Im apply to UNI but even if i get in i dont want to go so i will just get a job doing something rubbish if i dont get in :(

Anyway does anyone have any advice for calming nerves? It is proberly the most important test i will ever take in my life  .

All i need to find out now is how the hell to add/divide/times/subtract fractions, i have completly forgotten since i havent done it for about 2-3years lol!

If you really want to be in the RAF, you will. Even if you fail this test, as long as you don't give up, you'll get there in the end.

Just take it easy, stay focused, have a good nights sleep before, and believe in yourself.

:)

Good luck with it, hope you do really well.

But, you shouldnt put all your eggs in one basket. Im sure there are plenty of things you can do related to communications and information systems within the defence industry, outside of the RAF. Good luck :)

Good Luck mate :)

As for fractions, well adding and subtracting them is easy- just make sure they have the same denominator. Multiplying is just as easy- just put them next to each other and multiply the numerators and denominators together. Dividing, you do the same as multiplying but turn the right-hand fraction upside down IIRC :)

Care to explain just a little bit more? :p I have looked at it on websites but nothing is really that clear.

Mastubate before you go?...it is alleged to calm one down and reduce stress levels especially before an interview.

Drink plenty of water.

Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you can do it... :) and good luck.

Hmm thanks for that. So now i know when i'm interviewing someone and they're extremely relaxed they're just been for a big fat ****? :p

For example:

10/16 + 3/4

10/16 + 12/16 = 22/16 = 1 6/16 = 1 3/8

3/4 - 10/16

12/16 - 10-16 = 2/16 = 1/8

5/8 * 3/4

5/8 * 3/4 = 15/32

3/4 / 5/8

3/4 * 8/5 = 24/20 = 1 4/20 = 1 1/5

:)

Thanks trigger, i sort of understand but not fully how you get the solutions?

Right...

For example:

10/16 + 3/4

10/16 + 12/16 = 22/16 = 1 6/16 = 1 3/8

Well 10/16 gets left as 10/16 so 3/4 needs converting to 16ths. 4 goes into 16 four times so times the 3 by four also, giving you 12 thus 12/16. 10+12 = 22 so 22/16... Then there is 1 16th in 22 and 6 left over giving you 1 and 6/16 which in its simplest form is 1 3/8 :)

3/4 - 10/16

12/16 - 10-16 = 2/16 = 1/8

Same as above basically, make the denominators the same (the bottom number of the fraction) but subtract the numerators (the top numbers) instead of adding them.

5/8 * 3/4

5/8 * 3/4 = 15/32

No need to make them equal this time- just muiltiply them out as they are i.e. numerator x numerator, denominator x denominator:

5 * 3 = 15 and 8 x 4 = 32 thus 15/32 which is already in its simplest form.

3/4 / 5/8

3/4 * 8/5 = 24/20 = 1 4/20 = 1 1/5

For this, you basically do the same as above. Again, no need to make the denominators equal but you turn the second fraction upside-down:

3/4 divided by 5/8 becomes 3/4 * 8/5 if you see what I mean

Hope that helps, I'm on MSN if you're still stuck :)

Thanks guys :), also having to learn about electrical components and all sorts lol, so scared :( !

I find out about an hour after the test if i have passed or not.

I hope so, how did you do, i mean, what mark did you get?
I cant remember what part of the RAF you are in :o
