I think they charge you that because they are a **** credit card company?
Change provider unless they give you some benefits that others don't.

But you're right about supermarket shops. I can normally reset my credit card back to 0 every month but I'll have to be more careful this year as I'm about £150 per month worse off than last tax year.

If you don't drive then the Santander 123 one is the wrong choice, the cashback won't be higher than the fee.

Capital One Mastercard will get you a bit of cashback (free money) or just go for the basic Santander card, which won't get you any.

I have a MBNA card and I would be asking them about the £3 charge as it certainly doesn't exist on mine.

Had exactly the same card until recently. Exactly the same situation, used to be an A&L card, now MBNA.

Never ever run into a £3 charge for using it online other than if I was putting money into my bet365 account.
