Woman, 39, injected 'waste matter' containing E.coli into child's intravenous drip as she lay ill in

This not seen as attempted murder/grievous boldly harm?
So I can go kick the **** out of someone, beat them half to death then claim I am a alcoholic with depression and bang, get a cosy hospital bed and someone to talk to for an hour every day?

LOLbritishjusticesystem

Just lol.

For god sake her victim was a CHILD. That judge also needs help tbh.

It's getting to the point where I'm beginning to think that the only people who should be allowed to pass sentence are those who have been victims of crime before so they actually know what it's like, what it feels like and how it affects you.

I despair sometimes when reading the news, I really do.

Bring back the breaking wheel I say!

Urm she needs help, which she won't get locked up in a prison cell...

Justice system doing its job and identifying people who clearly need medical help to protect society instead of just locking everyone up and shouting CRIMINAL

Well if you only get a few years for killing someone, no prison sentence sounds about right for mere attempted murder in the UK.

Also, dangling participle.

That's a horrible idea, people do the most stupid things when they're emotionally attached.

she needs locking up in a psych ward though. 24/7 treatment and no release for 5+ years.

if she is ill she needs treatment but the public deserve the right to be protected too. i shudder to think about such a think happening to my special little boy.

All criminals need some form of "help". This woman isn't mentally handicapped, if she was she wouldn't be left unattended near helpless children in the first place, she knew what she was doing.

A year in jail suspended for 18 months for basiclaly what amounts to attempted murder.
Injecting anything into a drip is done in the full knowledge you are likely to kill the person.

The criminal justice system needs a shake up from top to bottom.
Yes the woman does need treatment, no doubt Hitler needs various treatment also.

If the child had died would it have been murder or manslaughter she was charged with? She would have still needed treatment then.

As someone else stated, driving a van when little to no chance of reoffence, 2 years in jail. Poisoning a child, supervision for 6 months. hmm.

Surely knowing the girl was already ill and it was likely to cause serious issue with a chance of death it's attempted murder?! I don't understand how you can paint that any other way...
