woodgate

Woop Woop

now we jsut need dukes to sign on

do we know if hes getting the captaincy or not cause i think he wanted it as part of the deal ?

I'm waiting until the press conference before I believe it since I remember Sky reporting we'd signed him about 3 months ago but it turned out we'd only agreed a fee which we had done when we signed him on loan.

Hopefully it's true thou, and if so then it should increase our chances of signing Viduka.

If Woodgate sign surely Viduka will sign.....

great signing! however it's a fair chunk of money though to outlay and we still have the same team (possibly worse) than last year that is struggling to acheive a midtable position.

Is the money going to come from next seasons transfer funds? hope not as there wont be much left for further additions.

Rumours are that the money is coming from our budget from last season rather then this. Hence why we'd agreed the fee last summer.

Overrated and has not done anything to deserve so much credit; has not won anything and has not stayed injury free long enough to be classed among the terry's, carragher's, campbell's etc. These guys have performed week in week out, season after season and have the trophies to show.

I think 7m is lot for a 27 year old defender who is so injury prone. If it was around the 3-5m mark then it would have been better. 7m is a lot for Boro.

Fantastic signing for us. Has been amazing for us this season. You only need to watch his performance against Henry at the Emirates (We normally concede at least five away to Arsenal) to see what a great player he is.

I also think we haven't seen the best of him yet. Has had a good return of games this season (33 out of 41) and has barely missed a game in the second half of the season (Missed one where he was rested).

We've also seen a massive improvement in Pogotetz this season as well by playing alongside Woodgate.

I'll take Woodgate over Carragher any day and every day thank you very much. Carragher is good, but so unbelievably overrated. He is poor on the ball. He is also slow which means he gets caught out more times than he should.

I personally wish Woodgate would have gone to a bigger team like Arsenal. Would have given them a big boost defensively.

You can take him, but you wouldnt have any trophies to show for it, plus you'll be £7m out of pocket :p , so be my guest.

I'd rather pay £7m for Woodgate than £0 for Carragher.

Its not his fault he has no trophies yet. He joined Madrid at a bad time, Leeds came close but ultimately fell apart. Boro aren't really likely to win anything but weren't they his hometown club?

I wouldn't measure a player on how many trophies he has won as he can't win trophies on his own, especially from defence.

Well that would be quite a stupid thing to do as you would be saving £7m!

Carragher went a long way to winning a trophy himself, did you not see his defending in extra time of the champions league final? He had cramp throughout extra time and still made some pretty amazing tackles. You cant buy that kind of spirit. Yes he didnt win it on his own, but he sure played his part in that victory. He was in the CL team of the year for his fantastic performances throughout that season.

I dont wana hear 'but woodgate wasn't fit'; that doesnt matter, carragher has stayed fit and done it. as has JT at chelsea. Look at john terry; an absolute inspiration too, he is an immense defender and scores goals. and most importantly he knows how to win.

The facts remain that Woodgate hasn't really done anything of note, and is injury prone so £7m is a huge sum of money.

Same for me.

Woodgate has done very well for Boro this season, and has managed to stay fit for the majority of it. Very good signing for Boro and I think £7m is a good deal.
