Hi All
I'm currently setting up a website for my girlfriends craft business and want to include an online shop.
I'm using Wordpress to set the site up as I'm no website building expert and I've found that I can add much more functionality using this than I could ever achieve using anything I have slight experience of.
Thus far I've got the site looking pretty much how I want it, got the pages I want, a gallery page working etc and I'm quite pleased with that.
I have installed wp-ecommerce plugin and it's set up a products page, checkout page etc which seems fine, and with a lot of help from a chap on another site I've got this also looking how I want.
However, I'm now running into problems and I'm rather stumped.
The first problem is relating to the shipping costs of items.
I want to be able to individually add shipping prices to each item in the shop as a lot of the items on sale will be one off pieces and will vary massively, so the simplest thing I feel would be individual shipping costs.
This seemed simple enough as, when adding a product, there is a box to fill in for the shipping price, and this price is displayed on the product listing.
However, when the item is added to the basket, the shipping price is neither shown, nor added to the total price.
This is also the case when going to the checkout.
I am also completely stumped as to how exactly to get the checkout to work. At present I have not enabled any of the shipping modules in the plugin because I don't want a flat rate of shipping (as already mentioned the items will be very varied and hence standard prices are no good), nor do I want shipping based on weight for the same reasons.
I thought all was well because the checkout page (apart from not showing the shipping cost in the total) had lots of boxes for the buyer to fill in for billing and shipping addresses, however, once all filled in, clicking on the proceed button brings up an error saying that the shipping method must be selected....however there is no where to select a shipping method so the buyer can't proceed.
I did have a bit of a play with the shipping modules but this just lead to a further problem whereby instead of the address boxes etc being shown on the checkout page, it just showed the total price and a box to select shipping destination, with only the choice of UK (as that is what I've selected in the options). Once this is chosen, clicking on proceed now throws up and error asking for a postcode to be specified so shipping can be calculated. There is no where to enter anything, and I don't want shipping to be calculated anyway because I want to specify the shipping for each item myself.
Can anybody help me out at all with this cos I really don't know what the problem is and I don't know how to get round these problems.
Any help very very very much appreciated!!!
