I started work in a IT Recruitment company last week, as a Summer job, and one of my colleagues just got off the phone with a candidate and burst out in laughter...

Apparently the voicemail the candidate had left sounded as if she was female, and the voice on the phone call afterwards sounded male... towards the end of the 10 minute conversation, the candidate says:

"I am a transgender, male as a female, but I interview well and have never had a problem before"

My colleague didn't have a clue what to say, so she just came out with "brilliant!"

We all found that so funny :D

and that's why he/she has to use a recruitment agency :\

We only recruit via agencies.
When I was last looking for work I found that agencies also had jobs available that did not appear in the local newspapers, job centres etc.
A lot/most companies find a good agency they can trust as they know the agency will do a fair amount of vetting - saves the company a lot of time.

So certainly no stigma at all with using an agency - it's how I've found the majority of my work over the years.
