work sickness

Go to work with a megaphone.

Do this:

Profit???

This is whats wrong with the UK now.

When i was working and you had a disagrement you sorted it with your fists.
Done and dusted straight away, none of this , i will sue you crap.

He said nothing about suing anyone? Settling with your fists would get you rather fired in very many situations. Besides, Scuzi didn't say what he was doing writing stuff down. Perhaps all those people are going in his black book, if you know what I mean?!:D

@ OP:

MAN UP! :p

I jest. I have a spaccy bottom wisdom tooth too, and it's coming out at a slight angle (so through the side a bit as well as the top of my gum). I've almost been in too much pain to work with it on several occasions in the last 6 weeks, but have just about managed to carry on. I can't imagine how more painful a properly knackered wisdom tooth is. I can therefore only summise your colleagues are a bunch of spanners and don't know the pain of a dodgy wisdom tooth coming through.

Ignore them, but note down any trouble you have in case you need to speak to your manager about it.

IF you're genuinely ill then you have nothing to feel guilty about. They probably just think you're pulling a long sickie for before the holidays. Ignore them. If you don't want to ignore them explain your condition... but personally I don't think it's any of their business.

Just ignore ribbing from colleagues and remarks from your managers. It’s par for the course. They wouldn’t be saying the same if they were in your shoes and you are more valuable to your company “fixed”. So stop worrying and ignore them, your health and wellbeing is your number one priority. Now go and get better.

I've taken the last few days off ill but i genuinely feel absolutely awful and can't stop sneezing/coughing/clearing my throat . This is not good when my job consists of talking to clients all day and having to be very on the ball/accurate.

I feel bad because people will have to get someone in to cover me or the managers will have to do it themselves but i would only make things worse if i went into work!

They sent me home from work when i had my last toothache. It was killing me so at dinner I went in the Bogs & Ripped it out, The pain was so bad I dropped to my knees & held on to a sink to stop me going down, Just then my manager walked in & said You got Toothache Malc ?
I just held out my hand with my Tooth & root in it, He jumped back about 5 yards & sent me home. :D
I was going to go back to work after dinner. :p

Yes that's exactly what's wrong with the UK. People go through proper channels and follow procedure nowadays. If only we were still uneducated meat heads.

I'm assuming you worked in a respectable profession. Let me guess, "Production Operative" or some such?

My work always guilt trip when they people ring in sick and get really over the top or slightly aggressive and it really aggravates me when I see it happen or it happens to me.

I always do extra hours when people bale or are sick, yet I have had one sick day in 18 months and when I rang a while ago to say "I might not be in, if I get worse over night I will let you know" I got an earful about not being able to ring the night before and that "you sound fine"

I hate my current employer - new job for the new year!

lol dont be worried what they think!!

Just answer with something like this

"Yeah it's great, sitting here with my feet up and the fire on"

Thanks for all the advice guys and yeah your right I know I shouldn't feel bad, I haven't wished for this so close to christmas but if its going to alleviate my suffering then im not going to feel bad anymore. It only really became an issue the other day the person working my shift with me at the time was gripeing about how she has to work all this week and all the bank hols including " new years " she doesn't want to work them so rather than discussing her rota with the manager she took it out on me by whineing to her about how ive got such a " great " rota ...
