working with video, "increasing exposure"

i've not really worked with video much, beyond using virtualdub to chop and compress it.

i've got some stuff i shot and it's a little too dark, if it was a photo i'd just up the exposure a bit and see how it looked. But i dont know where to start with video.

Anyone help me out here?

Most video editing packages will allow you to lighten/darken footage.

I have mainly used Adobe Premiere Pro but I'm sure other cheaper packages will do it no problem. Check out some popular ones a cut down version of premiere elements, some have trial versions such as Sony Vegas, Pinnacle Studio, Ulead Videostudio.

Brightness/contast with premier pro, I usually increase the brightness, then increase the contrast a little bit.
