LOL look England can beat the Germans...they just have to play good football much like today...keep the ball as much as possible and try and attack...hopefully Podolski will still be utter crap so he will be rendered ineffective although Klose is coming back so god knows how England are going to deal with him....but really from what i have seen of the Germans in their last 2 games...they dont look all that invincible...the Aussie game just flattered them tbh....but tonight Ghana had a few good chances of putting it up the Germans.

Lets just hope Rooney finds his scoring boots by Sunday because if he doesnt then it means we will have to rely on Defoe or even Heskey:eek::p

I agree, Ghana had more than enough chances, perhaps even more than the Germans, if England can up their game, and put away some of our chances, we have a shot. Even if we do win though, it would appear our world cup campaign has become infinitely more difficult!

To be fair scotland arent that bad... Euro 2008 qualifiers we were third behind Italy and France (world champions and runners up). Which is realistically the best we could have hoped for. (this was when Italy and France were good :p)

World cup qualifiers we finish second behind Holland. On same points as Norway but worse goal difference. We did worse in the world cup qualifiers because Walter Smith left and the same with Mcleish. So in recent times Scotland have played above themselves. During walters and mcleish's reign we were playing pretty good passing fitba.

so there :p

I know, I'm not being entirely serious - for England to do it properly they'd need to follow the time-honoured pattern of a loss (usually under slightly dubious circumstances), a rather dodgy draw in a game we should have won and then finally a win over one of the favourites when the result is almost purely academic anyway. They couldn't even get that right and the disarray in the camp was also a bit disappointing - we usually try to get that out the way during the qualifying campaign c.f. McGregor & Ferguson's drinking session before the qualifier against Iceland.

Scotland have been somewhat unlucky with the seedings in recent years and have achieved some fantastic results irrespective of what anyone else says but we've not been at a major championship for quite a while now unfortunately. Still I wouldn't trade it, enjoying the highs and lows that inevitably result from being a Scotland fan vs anything else - it's not even a choice. :)

//edit and in case it's not clear to anyone, congratulations to England on making it through the group stages.

Cup game against the germans, it's 50/50.

Just wish we had the saturday fixture, 3pm on a sunday they'll all be tanked up well in advance of the game:(

Germany have a weakness at the centre of defence and Ozil didn't look 100% fit tonight and was really struggling in a the last few minutes. England can beat them but they will need to be more clinical than they were today as German will score imo.

It's potentially a nightmare route to the final now, but then again if you want to call yourselves world champions you have to be able to beat the rest to prove you are the best.

So I've just used the BBC Predictor and if the World Cup turns out the way I think it will England would face:

Last 16 - Germany
Quarter Finals - Argentina
Semi Finals - Spain
Final - Brazil

Well look at it this way; our problem so far has been breaking teams down, we've only conceded 1 goal and that was from a keeper **** up. None of those will sit off of us, so if we keep up our defensive record and take advantage of the extra space in attack, we'll have no problem. We're going to win the world cup!!! :D

Sorry not going to happen- Brazil play counter attacking football so ye will have to do with been runners-up! :p

Well im just happy were through to the next stage, Germany match i have a feeling will be an epic clash (hope so) ... We're going to win 2-0 :D

Just watching the replay now, missed it earlier due to excessive bbq, beer and sun :p

yay we can keep our flags out :D

Please learn the difference between a dive and a blatant foul.

The guy pulled his arm out the way, leant back, didn't move his legs, Johnson ran along side him and went to ground. He was expecting the guy to go for the ball, he was expecting him to lean into him and he was expecting to run over a leg sticking out, none of that happened, he dived.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod..._Live_2010_FIFA_World_Cup_Slovenia_v_England/

1.47 into the match on iplayer, the replays show the guy simply does not move, he's on the edge of the box and doesn't move except pulling BACK his arms and leaning back. Johnson kicks the ball and runs past him and kicks the guys stationary leg and goes down. Its either a retard running into someone, or an intentional dive.

The difference between Johnson at best running into someone and Johnsons 3-4 (throughout the game and 2 in the first 10 mins) late lunges with the ball gone taking the player as the player tries to break is rather large actually.

If we had the ref that sent off Klose, Johnson would have been off by his second cynical foul 10 mins into the game. The same way Milner did a couple late reckless tackles and was yanked off before he could be sent off in the first game, the difference, an incredibly lenient ref.

For me Slovenia never turned up and were bullied out of it the ref let England away with a lot of fouls

They never asked questions of the England defence

Germany will be a different game alltogether

Congratulations USA deserved winners of the group

Well I kept saying "we haven't lost one yet" and that's what helped us through on points so everyone who doubted can eat humble pie. In my opinion the Germanhy game will cause our guys to actually play for it. How can they not go into this game fired up and keen for it like they were against Slovenia. I also kept saying get Defoe starting, which was clearly the right choice. Now if only he would start J.Cole too :D

Come on England
