World Cup Second Round - Argentina v Mexico **SPOILERS**

What an excellent game! More like that please. Even in the last half hour of normal time the pace was high.
Who was the number 7 Mexico brought on? I really thought he might have tipped the game Mexico's way in the last few minutes.

Superb game - possibly the best of the tournament. Eng/Ecu tomorrow won't get anywhere near it, and I think Argentina will beat Germany more easily than they won tonight. Mexico pushed them all the way but Argentina's second was one of those unstoppable wonder goals.

Cheers. Impressed with him, the Argentines didn't really seem to have an answer for him. Sorin was flagging towards the end (understandably) shame he resorted to a bit of chopping.

Some VERY questionable refereeing decisions though, what was that off the ball altercation with Ayala in the box all about?

To me it looked like an accidental collision, but the commentators thought it was a whack by Ayala on Marquez *shrug*

If people really want to be critical of the ref heinze should have been sent off when mexico were through on goal.

could have been a totally different outcome with argies down to 10 men :)

Well done Argentina, and credit to Mexico for their pace in the first half. Between Argentina and Germany, Argentina have faced stronger oppositon in this tournament. I think Germany have gained a false sense of security and will be truly tested (and beaten) in the quarter finals.

Home advantage is important may even be more primal than this. A study by psychologists at an English university discovered that playing at home is closely linked to testosterone levels in footballers. Dr Sandy Wolfson and Dr Nick Neave tested the testosterone levels of footballers in an amateur team before they played in training, at home and at away matches. The players' level of the hormone was much higher prior to home matches.

Germany has the home advantage. Like Klinsman said Germany have play with an extra man.

Not a very good Argentinian performance, Mexico really took it to them and could have won it. Nice reply from the Argies when they went a goal down, although i think it was an own goal imho.

Bringing Messi and Tevez sort of gave them a spark but i most impressed with Mexico tbh, could have easily had a shock on our hands.

Well done to Argentina, they have a very tough game against the Germans and will have to be on their toes...tbh i wasnt that impressed with their performance tonight...too sloppy for my liking. Still think that they along with Brazil and Spain have the best chances to win the WC.

japan and south koreas performance last time is a good example.

Six of the 16 tournaments have been won by the home nation, and footballing heavyweights such as England and France have only ever lifted the trophy on home soil. Only Brazil has won the world cup outside south america continent.

Aye , home advantage must never be underestimated.
A quick look back through recent history shows that.
Portugal , South Korea , France etc.

Great game tonight , like many on here I was rooting for the Mexicans and Raphael Marques - what a player.

Argentina won Mexico 86 :) I agree that home advantage is a powerful thing. I didn't think Portugal played that well in Euro 2004 but they still managed to get to the final.
