this is such a good song and has real passion, are there any songs like this for football, not that i am interested in football, but rugby is so full of passion where as (as i perceive from the media) football is full of thugs, might not be ture

* prepares to get slated *

but seriously how good is the world cup (i am welsh) i know we were out, but what a way to go, such a good game :D

Back Home :D

Seriously though, there's far less thugs involved in football as there is in rugby :)

When is the last time you heard on the news a Heineken/world cup or test match descend into a bloodbath for the spectators?:p

Just yes. How many games of rugby have you played?

When was the last time you heard on the news a football match descend into a bloodbath?

There's a few more idiots follow football because there's a good few billions more watch the game - however I said involved in the game. Every rugby player is a thug at heart. Especially at amateur level. There's a game called off every week for fighting.

I know this was aimed at Carzy but I played rugby for a few years before uni and various friends still play and in no matches I have participated in have there been anything more than the occasional scuffle. I would be interested to know what sort of rugby you watch. I have never known a single game called off because of fighting.

And as for rugby players being thugs at heart, just because we play a sport with body contact it doesn't make us thugs. That's like saying everybody in the British Army is a homicidal maniac. It's rubbish, I find from experience that there is very little if any fighting (or even nastiness) off the pitch and any animosity is left on the field. I have never once seen a player or even a person on the sideline insult the referee, let alone attack him. This isn't the same in amateur football where being a referee is tantamount to being a punch bag from what I understand from the news and people I have spoken to.

Conversely I've played football for years and never seen a referee threatened, certainly not approached and attacked.

The only time I've ever heard of it was a ref goading a player into hitting him. The ref decked the player, had to be dragged off him then sent the player down for assault as he was a high-ranking CID officer.

However, the rugby I've played constantly had fighting - Union and League - and matches in the league of the club that runs from the same WMC as I play football for are constantly being called off for scrapping.
