worldwide monitor glass shortage?

Hi,

I have been told that monitor glass is in severe shortage and this is delaying production of many tft's globally.

Specifically the Dell monitor I have been waiting for, has been delayed again - now 5 weeks in total.

Has anyone got any additional info about this? (Baddass???) I have had a good google nothing notable found.

RAM and LCD companies always say this. It just means they can price fix.

What monitor are you awaiting?

concerned I will may experience the dell panel lottery and lose!

more frustratingly I have been strung along with a number of reasons for delays - processor not available etc

I got mine from Dell because of the price but just buy it elsewhere nowadays as it is just as cheap and they will likely have it in stock.

There is no major TFT panel shortage. Websites like the Inquirer and theregister occasionally say things but you have to consider that if all other companies have TFTs in stock and it is just Dell that don't then it is just them running out of stock.

Besides what is a shortage, not enough in the world? or did dell just not get enough stock or underestimated demand???

Just buy elsewhere is my view on the subject.

They probably mean the TFT panels as you guys probably know they are made by only a few manufacturers.

cheers for the replies but the price / deal I got is too good to turn down!

so guess I am going to have to wait, or complain and ask for a 2407wfp as compensation
