I bought a XR3i on a D plate (1986) in 1989.

This was the car to have in those days (after the RS Turbo) and about the time joyriders were making a name for themselves.

It was the worst hunk of junk ever, I cant believe the amount of money i wasted on this piece of crap. Even when i look back now, I cringe at the thought. Never Ford for me again!

German/Japanese for the win tbh.

It was a hire car in the USA back in the early 90's. It was called a "Pontiac Le Mans" on the forms, so I got all excited until I saw what it was..............

A Vauxhall Belmont.......automatic

Rattled, gearbox broke, engine drank oil, lasted 6 miles and when back to the hire centre. Awful hunk of junk!

I agree, although the anti-Ford comment will get you flamed and a new Focus is far from an old Escort.

I had an identical experience with an Astra GTE 16v. It was quick and I loved the noise it made but when I look back it was such an unreliable rot box.
I replaced: Engine, Seats, rad, many many switches and sensors, sills arches wheels, carpet, brakes, suspension, exhaust most things really and it still went wrong all the time!

My worst car would be the Fabia Sport I had for a week.

It was horrifically slow (and I came from a 1.4TDI A2) and made an awful noise when accelerating with the windows down (almost like a whine/rattle). Skoda for some dumb reason decided to fit a 6cd auto changer as well asthe single cd in the dash yet most sports lost central locking because of this (mine had it luckily).

It is also mean to look like a vRS although from what angle this is achieved I don't know. (apart from the fact they are both fabias)

Now I have the vRS I havn't looked back.

Escort RS Turbo.

I bought it for £2000 - Spent £6000 on it and sold it for £2000

lol - Crazy or what...

Probably my current car, the 106GTi, its crap but great fun to drive :o a bit like the mini ive still got lying around really.

Rover 25 - non turbo diesel

I had a 1.9 turbo diesel Transit Connect termporarily when working for my first company, they then gave me the Rover 25..
I had it for one morning, gave it back and took the transit connect back!

It was DOG slow, dangerous from junctions, everything rattled and the person who took it after me, went through 3 gearboxes in 8 months!

Technically i didnt own it, so i spose...

Well, all my cars have been great, if i had to choose the worst... I would say the 1992 Corolla GL Liftback. Purely because it was the least inspiring :(

Rover 827i Sterling

Lots of kit but a turning circle the size of Berkshire. Whoever decided that a car that long should be FWD should be shot. Went wrong all the time. Handled like a boat in treacle.

Awful awful car.

Austin Maestro - First car and got ripped off. Turned out to be accident damaged, never drove in a straight line and only when my dad drove it a month later did I realise that the brakes were leaking. Having said that it never actually broke down!

It's a tough choice. I'm not sure which I hate most, the brown B reg Austin Metro 1.0l or the blue E reg Austin Metro City X.

Rot, rot, rot, no power and gearbox that made a transit van look smooth.

My Corsa C was by far the worst car, only on my second but i cant imagine having a worse car in the future. The body roll was so bad that going round a round-about at anything more than 5mph has people clawing for the handles and being admitted to hospital with severe bruising from being crushed by the other passengers. The understeer was just something else it was so bad that the steering wheel was pretty much redundant. Oh and the acceleration was so bad that i regularly got over taken by HGV's on slip roads

MG ZT-T

Was a company car at my last company. The previous guy had dogs and even though it was valeted, the rear was a cluster love of dog hair and air freshner.

Oh, and the turbo was knacked so going up any hill I had to have the thing the correct gear otherwise it wouldn't make it.
