worst video games you have played

Rise of the Robots takes some beating. I remember it being on the cover of Edge when the hype machine got started... and then the game came out, and reality checked in.

I'd also offer up MGS4 and the (fortunately) never seen Inspector Gadget on the C64. I was working at Binary Design at the time, and we were shown it, and asked to remake it to avoid the embarrassment of it hitting the shelves in its existing form.

The world was spared from Elephant Polo on the C64 too, or that would have been right up there... and yes, it really did exist. Seeing that was one of those genuine jaw-dropping moments. Ah, those were the days. :D

I would be between the following 2:

Aliens Colonial Marines

The lord of the rings: The two towers PS2

I liked the second one but it didnt make any sense story wise especially the last stage and i finished the game in 3.some hours and had that on preorder for 75 euros because Greece cannot have cheap games apparently. Never again..

Aliens what to say, a huge fan of the franchise (first 2 movies and the AVP games are my fav) but the bugs/crashes that the game has and also the fact that the game in E3 and advertisments was marketed with awesome graphics and if you compare that to the actual game it feels like comparing ps2 to ps3 then yes it was quite dissappointing. At least i didnt pay full price for it.

Ones I can fondly remember:

Far Cry 2 - You start off dieing from Malaria even before you get to play your character. All the guns are rusty and break after you've fired a clip and there's infinatley re-spawning checkpoints with soldiers that constantly harass you. Got old quick, pretty good looking game though.

Resident Evil 6 - 5 was bad enough but I completed it with a mate to get the Platinum on the PS3 which made it bearable. Borrowed 6 off another mate and the game is just a total abomination. IMO Resident Evil 1-4 are the best ones by far, avoid RE6 at all costs if you like the series and have any self respect.

Hah, Rise of the Robots, the game heralded to be the next big thing.

Turned out to be garbage.

IIRC it got a lot of praise for its graphics (which were impressive at the time) even though the gameplay was utter dog poop, so it's not unlike a lot of games today in that respect... graphics over substance. :p

I thought pretty much all PS1 games had zero charm to them. I could never, ever, ever understand the appeal of Crash Bandicoot, which outsold Super Mario 64 !!!

I would agree that the N64 had more charm but that has always been Nintendo's approach, hasn't it?

Meanwhile the PS1 introduced us to mature games, such as MGS, FFVII, Oddworld, GTA, Tekken 2 and 3, Rayman, Tomb Raider, Resi Evil and then loads more of hidden gems.

Plus, though not exactly mature, Crash and Spyro were fun IMO!

The lord of the rings: The two towers PS2

Loved this game :D

lol some of these games considered the worst played are quite decent. People's tastes eh? ;)

The one game I vaguely remember is called Captain Blood maybe, on either the Amiga\Atari ST or Amstrad.

As mentioned above it is all about taste. I was a student so didn't have much money if any, was sooo looking forward for this game to arrive, i preorder and fork a good amount of 75 euros (50 some pounds back then when the exchange rate was i think 1 pound to 1.5 euros). That is a huge ammount of money spent on a game that i finished in 3 hours. When i put it on i felt wow i was amazed. I loved that they used the music and all the movie materials plus that it was about the 2nd movie which hadn't come out yet. It was just that it finished so fast and had no replay ability at all. I felt cheated. My good money were thrown away. On the other hand the return of the king was much better but i learnt my lesson, i rented it, finished it and then went for the next one.

Another game which annoyed me so bad was Resident Evil 4. I would enjoy it much more, and am not being sarcastic, if it was called "Resident Evil: The revenge of the Action games" and was a spinoff because to me it felt like a spinoff, from the scenario to the parasitic bad guys, where are my zombies!? Have you seen the video of the prototype game that was supposed to be called Resident Evil 4 and made for the Gamecube? That was a proper horror game following the routes of Resident Evil 1. I liked Resident evil 4 as an action game. But because of that the game lost all its survival horror roots and saw another action game series called RE5 and RE6. Gone are the times where i had to run around corridors and avoiding zombies or killing them with the knife to keep my ammo. I am sorry but i played all of them (RE1, 2, 3, Code Veronica) when they came out and was so amazed by the remake of RE1 in gamecube! Thats the best version of RE. Why make it actiony? The answer is for the money unfortunatelly. And i always wondered am i the only one that didnt like RE4. But then it occured to me, because the game was sold to a huge wider audience (people who never played RE1,2 or 3) then i suppose that is why they liked it, because it was a good action game indeed. To me that destroyed the series.

Hmm i wanted to put a thumbs down as an emoticon but apparently i thumbed down my own post :D
