Worth an update or is it a waste?

run a search for wmiprvse.exe in my computer.
Ran search and got 4 results, one in system32, 2 in winsxs and the 4th one is in SysWOW64 and I have no idea what does it means.

As for the CPU, you budget is tight to get something really nice (like a Q6600 G0 stepping for ~£50)
I Would rather wait for few weeks to save some money and get something better, e6600 was just a suggestion.

In case you are thinking of OCing that E6600, here are a couple of links to help.
Thank you very much!

What screen res are you playing on?
1440x900

Nvidia are normally better for wow, but they don't have anything that can match the HD 6670 in that price range, the GT 440 is a good deal slower.
My budged might be slightly bigger than I mentioned above, I would say around 200 quid.

After the GPU, the CPU upgrade to an E6600 as already suggested is a good idea. Don't get a Q6600 for wow, it would be a total waste. If you were looking at spending £50 on a CPU the E8400 would be the best option for wow and any other 1-2 core limited games (most games).
So you are saying eventhough Q6600 is of higher performance than E8400, it will not be fully used during gaming?

If your system is mainly for WoW then a faster clocked dual core would offer better performance than a slower clocked quad core (as this game can be relatively CPU heavy, but only accross a couple of cores).

However, a Q6600 (especially if you overclock it) will still offer decent performance in WoW, while offering better performance that a faster dual core (like an E8400) in more modern games which can make use of quad cores.

Personally, I would go for the Q6600 for the greater flexibility, but if you really just want to focus on maximising WoW performance then a E8400 or similar wolfdale 45nm Core 2 Duo would be a good option.

The only reason I was focusing on WoW is that it doesnt require a lot of my PC, but since it is wiser in all terms to get something more powerfull that will allow me to try out more games, then why not?
Where, i just looked on the bay, cheapest was £55incl. Q6600 £60+ and E8400 about the same.
Checked it earlier and noticed the same thing, all 3 of them are around 50-80 quid, which is a really small difference to me. Thats why in terms of price/performance ration it is better to get q6600 i assume.

What is MM or AVF?

Members market and AV forums I believe.

The members market is provided as a free service to active and contributing forum members. OcUK are not liable for any deals that are done in the Members Market, you are free to buy and sell at your own risk. Please read the rules of the Members Market before you proceed to make your first sale.

Access to the Members Market forum requires two things. Firstly, you will need to have over 1000 posts and have been signed up for at least 180 days. Please note that this does not mean you spam the forums simply to increase your posts, as this action will result in posts being deducted, and if you continue this behaviour, your account will eventually be banned/suspended. Once you reach 1000 posts, you will need to activate your trust. The Trust system is for Members Market feedback only and not to be used for general user comments. Abusing the trust system will not be tolerated and such abuse will result in your account being suspended/ banned. Trust activation is either found in your UserCP, or you can press the trust button that appears at the bottom of all your posts.

Once you satisfy both of these criteria, Members Market access will be granted within 24hrs. Please do not post on the forums asking why you cannot access the members market, if you have any queries, email one of the forum Dons/Admins. The contact addresses are available in the FAQ. There is no buying, or selling allowed outside of the Members Market.

The worst part in that update is that if I will want to update any further I will have to change the Motherboard and therefore everything with it, since the sockets will change. And if to update motherboard straight away, then I will end up with no CPU and GPU

Well this is what you have to decide. Upgrade as has been suggested, which will give you a nice boost. Or hold on to what you have, and save up a bit more for a 'proper' upgrade with a few more options for the future

Just for the curiosity sake, if to upgrade the Motherboard, CPU, GPU and PSU, what options will I have and much more expensive it is going to be? And is there anything else I will have to change, because of the motherboard update?

No, I cannot wait any longer and with my Birthday upcoming will know what to ask from my close ones. To recap:
So for CPU: Q6600 will be the best solution at this moment,
As for GPU: OcUK HD 6850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
And for PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus' Power Supply.

But what about new CPU cooling? is Alpenföhn Civetta CPU Cooler (the cooler that link to was given earlier) still going to be a good solution for Q6600?

And total estemate rice is 200 quid, quite acceptable.

P.S. if there is something wrong, or any better options are available to the set I have posted above, please, feel free to comment and correct me. Thank you.

Aye, for £15 it is a good little cooler that performs much better than a stock cooler (both in terms of cooling and noise). However, on further inspection I would probably go for the Xigmatek Loki over it.

I say for a couple of reasons:

- the Loki when compared directly to the Civetta does better in both cooling and quietness
- the Loki has a backplate mounting system - so a solid fit and no fiddly pushpins
- it's a £1 cheaper than the civetta, which is nice

Here are some reviews of the Loki:

That said, if you can afford £9 more and your case will fit a CPU cooler with a 120mm fan then this Gelid Tranquillo will perform better and be quieter - mainly due to the size of the heatsink and fan.

As for your Q6600, HD 6850, CX 430W spec - that all looks great and will give you a surprisingly nice gaming system for a small price. With the addition of the Civetta cooler you should also be able to get a bit of an overclock out of the CPU.

When looking for Q6600 CPUs I would recommend going for one that is "G0" stepping (it is also identified by the spec code "SLACR" which is etched onto the CPU's metal heatspreader). The other stepping is "B3" (spec code "SL9UM"). The G0 is better than the B3 as it is newer, uses less power (95W vs 105W), runs cooler and overclocks better. Since you will have both a motherboard and cooler that will allow for some decent overclocking - then you may as well go for the version of the CPU that is best for this task and give you some nice extra performance.

Thank you very much, will measure everything very carefully first.

I found that q8200 is about the same price as q6600 or even cheaper, why is that? And in that case which one is worth taking then?
