I have been with Telewest since basically forever, I was with them on dial-up, then immediately got broadband when they started providing it. I have had very few problems, and their customer service has always been top notch.

I'm currently on the 4mb package, but have noticed that BE have LLU on my exchange. The promise of 'up to' 24mb unlimited for similar money that I'm paying for BY is very tempting.

I have reservations though. What I love about BY is that I get a truly uncapped, unlimited, un-shaped rock-solid stable connection. I pay for 4mb, and that's what I get.

Is it worth changing to BE? Are they truly unlimited and un-shaped?

Are Telewest likely to respond to LLU by more speed upgrades? If that is likely then I'll definately stay with Telewest.

Bear in mind you've got another £11 a month to BT for a line as well.

That's not an issue as I have a BT phone line anyway. Any thoughts about my questions? :)

I'd probably take a look into BE's traffic shaping and fair usage policy's. It seems that telewest aren't bothering with these yet.

Although every ISP will have traffic shaping of somekind in soon its worth checking now.

i will say one thing about telewest that i prefer to other isps. They have decent support, a 24 hour support line (which is great for me since i woke unsociable hours).

I had a problem with my connection recently, so i called them at 5am when i got home, the operator wasn't able to resolve the problem from his end. So i arranged for a technician to come for a home visit. He came on time, swopped my old modem for a new one. Connection was fine again :) I didn't need to pay a penny for the new modem or the visit as it's included in the monthly fee :)

Well I decided to give 10mb a go. I upgraded my BY account online earlier, waited a few hours and rebooted my modem, and voila, 10mb

I'm Averaging ~900k/sec downloads, nice :D

It's highlighted some strange speed issues in Vista though, I'll start a new thread about that.
