Since i got my new monitor. Iv started playing games at 1080p. But my 9800Gt isnt up to the job :( its decent fps but some parts it lags. I just need that extra power to get it up to play 25fps to 40fps. Not wanting mega 100fps.
I have a lot of plans for my graphics card.
1: save my money for 2 5770s
2: save for the new gt300s
3: buy a cheap 2nd hand card whats better than my current card and use it till i get enough money to buy the best of the best around april/may next year.

There is a 250GTS on ebay, looks better spec than my card, aftermarket cooler ( i think ). But is it worth the £10 im going to put on it ?

250GTS wouldn't be a big enough bump for 1080 over an 8800GT.

If your happy with around 40fps min then a single 260GTX, 4870 or 5770 would be fine - tho 275GTX or 4890 would give a bit more stable framerates at that res.

I'd save up for the 2 5770s. No point really going for the 250 whatever the price as you wont see the benefits from a a 9800GT in my opinion. Whereas a xfire 5770 setup rivals the 5870s in some benchmarks and even beats it- very nice indeed ;)

with the new ATI 5 series coming out a lot of people are throwing their old 4 series cards on the bay. should be able to grab a nice 4850/4870 for 70 notes. well worth it

Depends of the rest of your rig, but saving up for 2x5770's can't hurt, will be a good £500 cheaper than Fermi when (if...) its released. :p

I have a 700watt powersupply :) enough to hold it.

thanks rroff. If i can see a cheap second hand 260, 4870 5770 ill go for them. But im not planning on keeping my next card for long.

I'd prolly say go for a 5770 then - it will hold resale value better than the old generation cards and is deff. capable of HD res gaming... crossfire 5770 is a cheap and potent way to get silky smooth performance with max settings with the current and immediate generation of games tho once DX11 titles hit proper you'd probably need to upgrade if you wanted to continue playing at 1920x type resolutions and max settings.
