worth upgrading my card?

building a new pc rig soon and was thinking of getting a 2900pro or 8800gts for it but with these new cards from ati and nvidia coming up was thinking is it worth waiting for these?

as i have a 7800gt that i could use but dont want to wait too long as i am getting a 24" monitor next month

I would wait till next month until your new monitor comes and then see whats out.

I have a 7800GTX (256mb version) and a Dell 24'. Plays most games to an OK standard as long as you back off the detail settings at 19x12 (although not tried any of the latest ones like bioshock etc).

So I would agree with TheRealDeal, see how your card performs when you get your 24" panel, and if you need a card then (and you probably will WANT a new card then), break out the plastic at that point.

suppose that the best thing to do but out of intrest do you have any idea how well a 7800gt will do on ut3 or crysis will do at 1920 x 1200?
