I really want to play this game, but im not spending untold amounts on a pc just to play it - im not that desperate!

So, do you think any of the current gen consoles would be able to manage crysis? Im guessing probably not - but i dont think it would be impossible...

Any thoughts?

lol no.

The developers have said that it will be a pc exclusive. Also I can imagine the final game being huge in file and save size so it just wouldn't fit on one dvd

I mean sure you could cut down on some of the texture quality and so on for consoles but it would be nigh on impossible to play with out a keyboard and mouse.

Cevat Yerli, CEO of developer Crytek has told inCrysis:

"We hope we aren't disappointing anyone, but contrary to any rumours that may be in circulation, neither Crytek nor any third parties are currently engaged in developing Crysis for console platforms. Our company's sole focus at this time is to complete Crysis for PC as well and as quickly as possible, so we can release it in a timely fashion to all who have shown such a strong interest in playing our game, while insuring we meet the high quality of game play they have come to expect."

u never know ;o

I reckon they'll release a dumbed down version for consoles approx. 9 months after Crysis is released. Along the line of Far Cry: Instincts.

In its current form the developers said that it simply can't be done. HE said one of *** reasons is that the consoles memory is just insufficient.

I could see how the ps3/360's cpu and gpu could manage it at say medium/high settings but with only 512mb of memory in the whole system i would say its impossible that you will see textures as good as they are on the pc version and the scale possible on the pc version.

i reckon they should wait till the next consoles, then they could bring it over running maxed out with all the new features which wont work with an current card, instead of a crappy port on 360.ps3.

Not a problem on the PS3 - heard of blu-ray ? The PS3 can also support a keyboard and mouse - UT3 for example.

Although these hurdles are not a problem for the PS3 - there are lots of other factors to take into consideration - one of these is graphical limitations.

Once devs have got thier heads around the hardware (graphics & cell) - who knows what is do-able, but for now - not a chance.

Crysis in its known state isn't doable on the current consoles. They pack the processing and graphical power, but Sony and Microsoft are so skimpy with their memory. It's just wrong to see something like the Cell alongside a weak 256mb of RAM. It really is.

If it does come out on consoles sometime (doubt it) it'll probably be pretty crap. Crytek didn't even develop the console port of Far Cry so no surprise that version was so bad.

So if you want a shoddy port from EA then I guess you can look forward to that.

256mb?

Surely its 512mb? 256mb for the cell and 256mb for the RSX?

Why do you want Crysis anyway?

There are loads of FPS out/coming out for the 360. I know it will be an amazing game [edit : graphically] but at the end of the day its just another FPS. If I had spent >£1k on a PC then it justifies the purchase but its not going to be any new ideas , its just prtettier gfx from what Ive seen.

Im sure it will come out in some sort of fashion for the consoles. Just like every successful franchise. Counterstrike, Doom, Command & Conquer, World in Conflict.....

Yeah, in the same way I have 4098mb of ram and 320mb on the 8800GTS. You don't see me going 'I have 4418 of memory on my PC' do you? :p

Crysis is a lot more original than nearly every other FPS, bar Farcry to which it's a followup for anyway. The gameplay is spot on in the beta as well. Dismissing Crysis as 'just another FPS' shows you don't know what you're talking about, let alone played the game. There are plenty of new ideas in the game.

The problem with consoles when comparing to PC's is limited RAM. Crysis would not be possible without sacrifices having to be made.
