hi all,

I was driving my car to work this morning when in noticed that both the driver and passenger side windows have develped long scratches, it looks like someone has dragged an item (perhaps a key) along the windows. I cannot run my fingernail over the scratches which makes me think i should foget trying to polish them out.

So to my question.. Do you think that i could have this covered by the insurance, i know i should probably just phone them up and ask, but wanted some opinions first!

any advice would be great.

cheers!

(p.s. i didnt notice the scratches when i set off this morning as (a) it was still dark, and (b) i was still half asleep!)

It depends what kind of cover you have, some only do windscreens, mine claims to do the glass all round for an excess of £50 and the windscreen for free. It's in the little handbook thing that details the conditions and exclusions for things like DOC and what kind of equipment is at 'owners risk' as far as the insurance company are concerned.

It will probably come under "malicious damage" - so read your policy carefully.
Malicious Damage excess will be seperate to your normal excess and may also be classed as a claim (loss of NCB).
Only Direct Line that I know of don't penalise your NCB for a malicious damage claim.
