I'd probably run it by a parent first for the sake of family harmony, but in principle there's nothing wrong with accepting a gift from a family member.

I'm glad you turned it down. Leaves more for the inland revenue to take when he dies and use towards bailing out a bank or buying some immigrants a new 3 piece suite.

)I assume your joking, but just in case, your a 4 letter C word
Back OT:
My grandads the same, gives me 20 quid a week and refuses to stop it even though im 19 next month lol!
Half the time if I see him about town he'll give me another 20 quid lol
He's the nicest man ever though, my friends were walking past his house one day and he was washing his car and asked them if they needed a lift anywhere, are they alright for money etc etc. (And yes he did know them, he wasnt just asking some random kids if they wanted a lift lol)
Tbh I'd take it. Buy the car and make sure he gets to see it and have a ride somewhere he enjoys in it.

My grandad is not the kind of guy who would want to come on a drive with me
However, I would have course make the offer.

take it, buy the motor, take him out in it and update him on it regularaly, he will thrive on this. both my grandads are dead and i miss such conversations.
