Would this make me a bad person!?

So I've been saving up for a car and currently have £2,800. My Grandad of 95 has just rung me up saying

''I have no need for money and have way more than I could ever use, here, have £2,500 towards that car you want to get''

He's old and doesn't quite understand thanks but no thanks, he just thinks you're being very rude. Obviously I wouldn't mind a helping hand with some money but that seems a bit excessive to accept?

Jah order Nein?

Accept old men dont need much money.

I was thinking maybe I could take him out for a day, buy him lunch etc. He's 95 and I should probably do this anyway before his days are numbered. Then again, it looks as if I'm only doing this because he's giving me money right...? Oh, Nitefly, I responded in the other thread!

You wouldnt be doing it for the money, you'd be doing it to say thanks. there's a differance

But then it tapers down each year (plus the stuff Will mentioned RE: gift allowances, etc).

Depends on what other gifts have been given really... :p

I've been slogging through wills and IHT all bloomin' day!

On a related note, the company's act 2006 needs to die a painful death.
