Would you consider yourself as fit and healthy as you should be for a person of your age? Ive grown myself a bit of a beer belly that im not too proud of :(

well, my MAJOR vice is chocolate, and i do no excercise at all but im not too bad, its my beliefe that if you at the very least, try to eat well (i.e. home cooked foods, not out of the jar crud and microwaved cow pats that pretend to be curry) then your body will do a reasonable job of keeping itself in a reasonable condition.

ive recently taken to raisins too :D im a bugger for not eating enough fruit but now i keep a kilogram tub of them on my pc desk. creates a bloody mess when you knock them over during a heated battfield 2 game though :(

im also fairly certain that your bodys ordinary muscle mass is pretty much down to your genetics too, for example, im half italian and dont do any excercise, and i eat too much chocolate and biscuits, but ive got a flat stomach (but no 6 pac  :( ) and decent arm muscles.

i basically believe that so long as your able to see your own feet over your stomach then your fine :) if you want to help tone your self back up, cut down on the beer, (300 callories per pint! personally i go with tequila and diet lemonade, 75 callories and after 6 you dont need any more... O_o) watch your fat intake from the foods you eat, swap the cooking oil in the kitchen for olive oil, change the sugar in the kitchen for something like canderell, use olive oil based spreads on your foods, stay away from pork, that includes bacon. use skimmed or semi skimmed milk instead of full fat.

these are all the things i do and they work well.

I was speaking to an old friend the other day, he sent me a picture of me and some others from a party about 3/4 years back (i was drinking away in this picture) .. I couldn't believe how slim/defined i looked.

The beer has really got to me and it's not something i plan to give up! Main problem being though, i do no exercise at all so i can only blame myself for the growing beer belly :(

you see i fear the "beer belly" if i look at myself in the mirror and dont like what i see, out comes the rabbit food for the next few weeks, :) its not about starving yourself, just about eating and drinking the right things.

Yep I do. Although I'm looking to lose around half a stone and get a bit fitter in the next three and a half weeks in preperation for a footy tournament we're in. I'm by no means out of shape though, maybe only by my own high standards.

I could probably see my feet over my stomach - the problem is I can't test it as I can't see past my **** :o

To the OP - I go to the gym 3 times a week and have decent stamina but I still wouldn't class myself as fit

I'm probably a fair bit fitter than most people my age (almost 31) but I do go to the gym a minimum of 3 times per week and cycle at least 50 miles too so I think I deserve it :)

I'd still like to lose a few more percent bodyfat though, gonna have to step up the intensity!

I've always been a fit thing, (Only 17 mind...) but am nowhere near as cardio-vascularly fit as I used to be at school. Build wise I'm much more toned but I just sit around all day and run once a day to get the bus or run to work. Should run more really :o

No, I'm lazy. But I'm trying to fix that.

Not overweight and I do eat well. But untill two months ago I'd not done any proper exercise (other than the obvious) for over 10 years.

Started playing 5 a side footy once every two weeks now. First game nearly killed me, but the last game we played I managed 20 minutes before needing a break. Doesn't sound much but 5 a side is murderously high tempo, especially playing against 18 year olds.

5 a-side really helps with fitness (and vice versa.) I remember playing my mates and finding that after almost an hour I was still easily able to sprint to every ball, whereas they were half arsedly lollygagging out of exhaustion. It really is a good workout.

I'm fit enough to pass the naval fitness test whenever it gets thrown at me - but I think that's down to my youth rather than anything else.
I walk a lot but do very little exercise other than that. I eat FAR too much chocolate, but the rest of my diet is generally good - never exceed fat or salt intake and usually average 3-4 of my 5 a day. I rarely eat processed carp - I like to cook my own food so I can see what actually goes in it.

EDIT - When I improved my diet last year I dropped from 14 to 12 stone over about 6 months even though I don't do any extra exercise.

I'd like to think i'm still fairly fit but i feel like i'm slowing down a bit nowadays as i approach the big "FAW OHH", so training is a lot harder than it used to be but still give it 100%..

I can still do a mile in just under 6 minutes and row 1,000 meters in 3.29 minutes. Long distance i'm not sure.

I cycle every day to the station and gym 3-4 times a week and have so for the last 8 years.

Yeah the lads we play with say it's perfect cardio work. I'm 34, I smoke about 10 a day, dont drink. I wasn't out of breath, it's just my legs just couldnt take it - felt so heavy in the first couple of games. Next morning I could hardly get out of bed.

Now I'm playing better for longer but still these kids are running rings around us 30 somethings, which is understandable.

Got another game tomorrow after work then a tournament at the end of the month. Really feeling quite confident now. Exercise is addictive. :)
