Would YOU hit a man with glasses?

I was debating this with a friend a couple of days ago.

I am of the firm opinion, that if Mr A was wearing glasses and started on me for no reason whatsoever, i would have no qualms about hitting him if he was wearing glasses. If he's starting stuff, then it's his own fault.

My mate on the other hand, disagrees.

What do you think?
i wear glasses and would happily smack someone who wears glasses if they deserved it ;)

I'd kick them tbh, keeps joe public at a good distance.
Dont kick cos it puts you at a distinct disadvantage and poorly ballanced.
If joe is drunk and you sober then let him commit first.
If both sober then retailiate first.
Get all over them like a rash

If you hit me and damaged my glasses, I can safely say if I ended up coming out on top after the ensuing fight, I would take anything of value you had to recover the £300 you just cost me :p

Hopefully that won't happen anytime soon though.

ya mate that would be the way i would look at it luckaly my vision isnt that bad with out my glasses on i mostly use them for reading

Im no karate expert or anything but a powerfull kick has to travel a greater distance than a punch, i can see im talking to theory type people but no martial artist has ever been able to compete with pro boxers and before you say they could if they wanted, Boxing is were the money is so they do try. Unless you count that British kick boxer bloke from the late 90s who was very succesfull at kickboxing (even Boxing News said so) but got a proper Shoeing on his first boxing outing.
Id rather have somebody try to kick me than throw a decent punch, only drunks and those that cant box, kick. Unless your Jet Le, but then without wires he would be easy :D

except that you can only punch in boxing + various other rules, would limit what an MA could do in boxing, if it was a no holds barred match, a most MA's would win hands down over a boxer.

I dont want to let this develop into an online car-park scuffle but i would disagree, at the upmost levels of both sports, i would say that Mike Tyson in his prime (whilst Cus DeMato was still alive) would give any Mu Tie follower a good wupping.
MA is great for personal discipline and physical conditioning but we are talking about punching people wearing glasses who 9/10 would have come out of a pub ****** as farts and fancy a bar-room brawl.
I only followed Karate for 2 years but i learnt loads but i honestly believe that most fights in the street take place at close range and if you are fit enough to wrestle with a big drunk bloke for 2 mins then you can stand back and crack on.

Don't swear! FF.

I was tempted to put except tyson at the end of my last post. TBH a well delivered kick will be more powerful than a punch, and if performed correctly, will have no more effect on balance than a punch.

But we are talking at a very high level in this case, generally in the street, those that kick are neither well versed in the art or capable of the execution.
In the street i would'nt kick if i was ******, i'd rather go for closing the range and wrestling till my foe run out of steam, and due to the job i consider myself considerably fitter than Joe

No swearing! FF.

If a bloke with glasses started on me, I wouldn't hit him, I would deliver an E Honda style flying torpedo, instantly breaking every bone in his body, then go stab his mum & sister in the n0rks, and finally burn his house down just for good measure.

I am wearing glasses, and I am well aware that if I do get myself into a situation, then I will risk damage to them.

So I have two choices - take them off before I go into a fight (i.e. start it), or don't start a fight.

As for being started upon, well, whoever wants to start a fight is a *** as it is and not worth bein discussed :)
