Nope, usually when a deal is on there is a little discussion about the game too, so newer deals could quite easily get lost in all the talk....and if there isn't any discussion allowed it would suck even more because we would have to go elsewhere to find out about the game.
besides steam is a massive part of pc gaming now, so to confine it in just 1 thread seems silly.

So Steam don't email you (and everyone else with an account) when there's a new deal?
 
how about a 'Gaming Bargains/offers' sub-forum where people can make new threads about steam offers, D2D offers and general retail offers from shops/sites? I'd even go as far to say make it multi-platform. There's plenty of supermarket console offers that need to be shared. I think a sub-forum dedicated to just Steam is maybe going a bit far, It wouldn't be much quicker going through that than just spending 5 minutes on the Steam site. A gaming bargains/offers thread would show you offers in places that you would otherwise miss.

At the moment we only have 2 games sub-forums, PC games and Console games. If we had a 3rd Gaming bargains then it would move all of the buying threads out of the other 2 and into the new sub-forum leaving the games sub-forums for just that, talking about games.

I can't see a single steam deal thread working tbh.

1. It would need someone to diligently update the OP with each steam deal which may work for a time but would eventually fall apart.
2. If you just posted in the thread when it came nobody would ever know what the deal is since it'd become lost.
3. The thread title 'steam deal' would be ambigious and need you to constantly check it whereas a new thread appearing with the game and deal in the title is very apparent.

I suppose it could be done if you made 2 of them. 1 sticky thread with the latest steam deals on the basis that anyone can post in it but mods should delete anything duplicated or that shouldn't be in it and another sticky for discussion of the steam deals to avoid people posting a discussion thread every new sale ><
 
Whilst I appreciate that the Steam sales cost me a fortune, I actually do like the fact that individual steam threads highlight their existence. Every one of the 'single' threads (stickies, youtube, random images, etc) on these forums I just ignore cos they're cluttered and annoying to use.

It would be interesting to see how people think a single thread would improve the forum.
 
Voted no. That way each time there's a "NEW STEAM SALE!" thread it's actually clearly a new sale, rather than someone bumping the 'general steam sales' thread.

Also, bring back [timko]'s threads :o
