Actually the sub-forum does seem like the best idea............

Agreed. i voted yes but a sub forum with all posts for anything steam related such as deals would be nice.. Problem with steam deals though.. Too tempting, sure games are a few quid, but you never seem to play them all.. lol

how about a 'Gaming Bargains/offers' sub-forum where people can make new threads about steam offers, D2D offers and general retail offers from shops/sites? I'd even go as far to say make it multi-platform. There's plenty of supermarket console offers that need to be shared. I think a sub-forum dedicated to just Steam is maybe going a bit far, It wouldn't be much quicker going through that than just spending 5 minutes on the Steam site. A gaming bargains/offers thread would show you offers in places that you would otherwise miss.

At the moment we only have 2 games sub-forums, PC games and Console games. If we had a 3rd Gaming bargains then it would move all of the buying threads out of the other 2 and into the new sub-forum leaving the games sub-forums for just that, talking about games.

I agree. I don't see why these forums should be promoting Steam over other outlets. Particularly when most of the 'deals' that Steam offer are not even good value.

As long the first post was updated REGUARLY.

I dont mind putting my name forward to do it :)

If it is not maintained reguarly, then there is little point.

I say yes, but at the same time, individual threads should be allowed.

I would also suggest the thread is not "public".

That way, people can subscribe and only be alerted when a deal is posted, not when someone posts "WOW, great deal".

You could just copy and paste / link to this thread which is how a "Special Deal" thread should be done:

Tbh that steam thread is the very definition of 'too much information'. Mainly because its arrayed in such a god awful format, which is no fault of the poster, merely a fault of forums in general. If you want to record every steam sale of the year and price drops and different currencies the only way it would work is a public access Excel spreadsheet like the 1 Antar keeps around for Steam/GFW/PS3 names.

You don't necessarily need the first post to be updated if you made it a seperate thread for discussion. But half the reason people create a new thread is because the name of it clearly states the deal and the name of the game and unless a mod is willing to update the name every sale then you'd just be relying on people checking it frequently.

And with Christmas coming up and steams usual gigantic offers list...

I guess its true to say that its not particularly fair that only steam of all the digital distribution places gets mentioned. I think a subforum is probably the best way, 1 thats just digital distribution as a whole. I don't use anything but Steam but some day i might cave and buy Sup Com on Impulse or something ><

I think a sub-forum would be a waste of time as well. Why change it if it's working? I don't think there's enough threads to justify its own forum. I refer back to my first post in this thread - when this poll appeared, there really was no other steam sale threads on the first page - so why do we need a sub-forum or a combined thread? That's right, we don't :D

Yes, lock dupes and make fun of people who create them, but otherwise just carry on like we are.

So Steam don't email you (and everyone else with an account) when there's a new deal?
That's correct.

I can only think that people have misread the voting title and are voting yes to a sub-forum because I really don't see just one main Steam thread working very well at all...
