Dear oh dear....

CAR nut Mark Keeble has spent an incredible £47,000 customising a Ford Escort Cabriolet he bought for A GRAND.

The motor is kitted out with six TV screens, a DVD player, an iPod, a Sony PlayStation and 29 ear-splitting speakers.

Essex boy Mark, 40, could have paid off half his mortgage had he not lavished his cash on the H-reg car. And he admitted: “I’m lucky to have such an understanding wife in Elaine. We decided not to have children so we could enjoy the finer things in life.

“I don’t go down the pub spending money on beer, I do this instead.”

Plasterer Mark snapped up the 1991 Escort when he spotted it on a driveway seven years ago.

He said: “Since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by cars and customising.”

Mark, who lives with Elaine, 33, near Braintree, Essex, keeps his car in a carpeted, heated garage.

The motor’s original 1.7- litre engine is boosted with a nitrous oxide system.

Mark, whose Escort was voted best customised car in Britain, pays £1,500 a year insurance and can drive it only 3,000 miles.

Why would anyone do this?

I wonder how he feels when people laugh at him as he drives past, or attempts to negotiate a speed bump.

Whats the point? Its probably as slow as a snail as it is anyway from all those speakers and TVs :p

Upto him, as long as he is happy who cares :) Probably the equivalent to having an average computer water cooled. Its unneccessary but people do it.

At least he has something to show for his money unlike some i suppose.

Although i dont think i know of anyone that have spent that much on booze :p
