Kwik fit are doing this little deal where you get a full service and MOT for about £120, thinking of going for it as it sounds reasonable and any problems with the car should be sorted in the service so more likely to pass the MOT, had a look at their service check list too and seems like they check pretty much everything including changing the oil, filters, spark plugs etc. Just don't know whether to trust them lol

The problem you might have is that if anything is wrong that would cause the mot to fail then they will charge you through the nose to fix it.

go to a normal garage! wont cost you any more, and they shouldent charge you through the nose if anything needs doing. Your best finding a local garage that you can trust, might take you a few years and a few rip offs, but when you find one you will be sweet! I have the luxury of my best mate and his dad owning a garage about 0.5 miles away from my house!

Especially not from KF. You'll need 4 new tyres and the tracking done at least. Thats not a good price in the first place and they're just crappy mechanics anyway.

Judging from members on SeatCupra.net i'll be looking at around £120-£150 for a main dealer service on the Cupra R. For a normal mass produced car, I'd have thought a dealer service could be had for £100~ probably lower.

£120 for a service from qwikfit (shudders ) and an MOT sounds like an awful price. And I wouldn't trust qwikfit near my car anyway.

Thats nothing, my local toyota dealer quoted me £300 for a service yesterday!

I paid for a 36k Service for a Fiat Stilo £330. :(

Now its out of warenty it went to the Fiat Specialists, they only wanted £150 for the service. :)

Shame the bill came to £530 after I have front discs and pads and rear pads replaced

Well the garage round the corner from work charge £80 for a full service and an MOT will set you back £35 so all in all they are charging a fiver more. I don't honestly see how that is such "awful" value.

I'll just point out I haven't actually had a car serviced there. I'm doing my own service this Friday.

It wouldn't surprise me if they failed it, saying that the brakes are worn, tracking's out, tyres are too low etc, then trying to charge you loads more to "fix" it.

Plus I wouldn't trust the trained monkeys they employ, either.

I don't really trust anyone to work on my cars because its soo difficult to find someone thats actually got the skill to do it properly.
One of my cars has now got a bent rear anti-roll bar due to the retard MOT tester that jacked the car up on it. Theres no point complaining because they'll just say it was like it when I took it in Etc.
As for the price of £120 for a service and MOT. Doesn't sound that good to me. Depends what kind of a service your getting though doesnt it ?

MOTs arent that dear and can be done while servicing tbh, so they arent losing much money.

£120 for a service isnt that bad, its how much the Halfords AA garages charge i think, and they are mechs not fitters (also more knowlegable than the spanners who work in normal halfords).
