Most posters here before the beginning of the Iraq war believed it was for democracy not oil and dismissed all other posters suggestions as poppycock. I think we should push for a formal apology from these posters as we are hurting for our troops who are dying for no good reason, immigration is up by refugees. And Iraq is on the brink of civil war because of our actions. Even, if you were BNP loyal, surely, this is wrong in your eyes?

I have for the first time raised my union jack to half mast :(

Who agrees with me?

would i wear something that is relevant to the death of the british troops in iraq?

no.

to compare the wars is wrong, to compare the deaths would be wrong.

however, each death from any of the wars is just as saddening as any other.
do i support our troops in iraq? yes. regardless of the reason for being their, they are there fighting in a very dangerous place.

The USA and Britain IMO have opened a can of worms that they will never be able to close again.

The people they are fighting are total fanatics, willing to blow themselves up for their cause. It is frightening just thinking abour it :(

The troops were sent in under false pretences, we will all pay for our so called leaders mistakes.

Poppies are in abundance and what do you mean by regardless of any reason? How are we supposed to bring them back without kicking up a fuss

They are people posting on an internet forum, not elected officials. They are entitled to their opinions and to express them, they don't owe you or anyone else any sort of apology.

I agree, but why try to convince everyother poster that their view was right

Do I support the conflict? *it's not a war...*

No.

Do I support our troops?

Yes.

Should we remember each and every individual in the armed forces that has been sent out and has never returned, no matter when, no matter where, no matter why?

Yes.
Doesn't matter where they died. They died in the service of the country. For that alone they should be remembered.

Agreed, but in the so-called enemies eyes, I would call us fanatics as well for attacking a soverign country. How would you react if France bombed your house tommorrow because we don't eat the same food or wear the same clothes, or speak the same language, and don't engage in hardcore?

Interesting view, what interests me is people are all too ready too support another conflict provided there is a good reason. What's wrong with us?

I'll support our troops independantly of why they are there. Despite the political reasoning, they are there, putting their lives on the line every day.

My sentiments are echoed by what Flibster has said.

Because that's what internet discussions are all about, trying to convince people you are right. I don't understand why you want a formal ( ) apology for something that happened over 3 years ago, apparently before you even registered.

Yes, but my point is violence breeds violence? Remember the days of the Christian Crusades? :)

Those that die don't have a political agenda - they are doing it to make a living and deserve to be remembered in a respectful way.

Do you live on a houseboat?

Any of our soldiers that die serving the country, which means fighting & following the orders they are given, should be properly mourned and respected.

That's what people do in debate and arguments, especially when they are themselves convinced that they are correct... (I don't use that lightly: you asked a stupid question! :p)

I was not a poster back then, just a casual browser. :) The reason I ask for an apology is because many human lives have been lost on both sides. If the supporters were not there. There would be peace :)
