ok so i stoped playing WoW for a few months as i am gonna be busy with exams. then the other day my friend rang me up to **** me off cause he thought i was on WoW and that i couldnt stop. wrong. someone had hacked my account. i had a keylogger (thank you avast for telling me) :mad:. so got rid of that pretty promptly. but they were actually leveling my character lol. so i go 2 log in and low and behold my password is changed. shock horror. so i put my answer 2 my secret question in but my email address in my account had expired literally a day before. s***!, so i couldnt get my password :rolleyes:. so i filled in a form explaining what happened, and got my email changed and got my new password. during this time the hacker didnt log off for an entire day (think he was using a bot lol). when he did he never came back on. so i logged in on the website when i got my new password and all this time i was wondering, how was he playing cause there was no time on my account as i just stopped playin? i then discovered he left his credit card details in.

ROFL!!

i couldnt believe it. how stupid can you get. i then logged in2 my account 2 discover my worst fears had been realised.

my mage had been leveled from lvl 42-54

my 70 rogue was left untouched

my 70 hunter was also, left untouched

lol

i still cant believe what happened

just thought you all might like to know :)

P.S. i deleted his credit card details incase you are wondering. conscience wouldnt let me ;)
 
Just pointing out the obvious, but that credit card number wouldn't have been his, you would only be screwing over someone else that got caught out by the key logger.

ah good thing i did get rid of it then :). should prob tell blizzard that so they can inform who ever owns the card then lol
 
Lucky you didn't get your stuff blitzed/stolen/dumped - 'cause Blizzard are incompetent.

I'm, like, totally not bias. Nor am I speaking from personal experience. :rolleyes:
 
Are you sure it wasn't through phishing or social engineering that you're details were had?

Just seems abit of an odd thing for a person to do via a keylogger, unless it was someone you knew.
 
Another explanation could be after all the accounts got hacked the other month maybe they sold some of them on and that's what they did with yours.

Nah you still can't beat a mage aoe farming for gold/low level mats to sell. Since I stopped playing, I've thought of setting up gliding on my account (my main was a 70 shadowpriest, but had a 70 lock and mage aswell) to farm shed loads of gold to sell it to one of these various gold selling sites. Might still be worth it.

The only thing I can think of is the Mage would be the less obvious of the Characters.. The chances are at L70 more people will know your character and you'll get more /w's asking to join instances etc. Also, maybe not in this case, the Mage was guildless, again easier not to get spotted.

That and ofc the AOE grinding on a mage is good and the stuff at that level still sell for good prices 'cus people can't be bothered to farm.

Anyway, stupid is as stupid does, or whatever that saying is ;)

i was thinkin that might have happened, i mean who wouldnt buy a 70 rogue and hunter if they were lookin an account.

but that would make sense. they hack my account, sell it on for cash, i then type in my secret question, some1 has "their" account taken away and the hacker has the cash :rolleyes:

only other guy who knows my account is my best mate, and would have just told me, "im levelin your mage" and he uses game cards like me :)

Have the rogue and hunter definately not been played? Ie, did their bags look the same, and were they in the same place as you left them?

If the character has been on for 24 hours solid, it does sound like a bot rather than a player. I've seen a lot of mage bots, quite often two working together, and they are always a frost aoe spec. Hunters are good for killing quickly, but they suck at killing lots of things at once.
 
Maybe someone hacked and sold the account? Might explain why the person used his cc to put game time on.

I have been spending a lot of time running low level instances on my Priest I had access to a friends Lock and have to say the difference is amazing, lock just races through an instance where on my priest I have to be careful.
 
If he was botting on your account then i suspect you will get banned sooner or later. Blizzard are great for bolting the door long after the horse has died of old age.
