Wow I've been missing out! - Warhammer Dawn Of War Dark Crusade!?

I downloaded the Dawn of War Dark Crusade demo the other day, and it's absolutely brilliant. My question is, is the original game this good and is the gameplay the same?

I think i'll almost definitely get the original game as i'm really enjoying this dark crusade add on pack demo.

Can't believe i never got this game!
 
Haven't played Dark Crusade but the original game (and Winter Assault expansion) is excellent, probably the best RTS I've played since RA2.
 
No Necrons in demo though :( was expecting a Tau mission and a Necrons mission but noooooo.

Tau are well sick though, the vehicle that they can get in the demo has an uber special attack that decimates all.
 
But aht ship thing is useless at anything close in :(

I found the best way to use it is with a squad of scouts at the edge of it's viewing range, then some cannon fodder in front of it.

That way the scouts let it start firing before anything gets too close, and if they are equiped with their upgraded guns the scouts can protect it (to a large extent) from Dreadnaughts (which otherwise can kill it in about 10-15 seconds).
 
By cannon fodder you could mean a couple of squads of upgraded firewarriors and a pathfinder team. Then there'd be no need for the tanky thingy. :D

Firewarriors - I've never seen anything go through assault termies like that before.

If they've left out the Tau more uber units form the demo, I can't wait to see ho shooty the late tier units are.

Its incredible how fast the stealth suits go through armour as well, isn't it.

Look for the Game of the Year edition, as i think it has the first expansion in it (and is pretty cheap).
 
I think the game of the year addition just has extra maps and stuff, you want the Gold edition which has the winter assault expansion, cheapest i've seen it was £17 :)


Dawn of war is probably my fav RTS since the days of starcraft :)
 
You get the gold edition with Company of Heroes when you buy it, which is basically DOW 2. :D

Both great fun to play, probably spent 500 hours DOW multiplayer, its very satisfying although it does eventually get very stale, well worth £50 yet alone £10.

heh just noticed that i too will be getting DoW Gold with my copy of CoH, didn't realise that... not half bad... although does that mean i can get CoH cheaper on its own somewhere, as i already have DoW :)

I think its bundled with all copies, but the cheaper places list the game bundled so its a win win. :)
 
Cheers for that heads up, I dont have Winter Assault, and I certainly want Company of heroes, so i've ordered it.

guess ill have 2 copies of DoW now though :cool:
 
ive got the 1st game and addon, cracking game. Anyone got a fast link for the new demo?

Is it actually a second game or just another add-on?
 
the demo gfx are fine , then odd things happen i get loads of lines everywhere on the map , the same thing happends to me in Gmod also :/
 
i have the original dawn of war and winter assault. its an aswome game and its the game that has now replaced red alert 2 as the regular network game we play.

far more strategy to it.

At one point said 38sec for the 400Mb! I have a screenshot after the speed tailed off from 17Mb to 4Mb when Im on a 1250Kb/s download (i.e. 10Mb - 1 byte = 8 bits), got it in under 2min.


This is from zen server and probably depends on the time of day too.

Oh well, lost the screendump, but why would I make something like that up? ;)
