I am looking to be purchasing a new graphics card just before the end of November to co-incide with the release of World Of Warcraft, Cataclysm. It has to be able to play WoW on max settings with a reasonable frame-rate. My budget is 220-240. Any suggestions?

wow is cpu dependent.

however, those saying the game looks the same need to get their heads out their asses. There are some major graphical improvements......its still a **** engine though.

im considering going 2 x 6870 xfire or one of the better cards coming out in 3 weeks time.

If your raiding you'll need a beast of a CPU to be able to cope with max settings wow in 25 man raiding enviroment... I dont even play at max settings in raid with my i5 clocked at 4gig as I find it my fps drops too low on important encounters.

From what I read, while the Cataclysm update will be bringing dx11 to the game, but graphic wise it only added something like spells and characters will cause reflections in lava and water...that's about it, so nothing that really need a huge graphic upgrade for. If upgrading anything, CPU/platform is still the best bet for WOW.

i don't run it maxed out on my 4Ghz i7 it's a terrible game really it's not optimized at all i don't think..

Well the reason wow's graphics suck is because the game was first designed in the 90,s and the game came out in 2004 and computers have come so far since then that the engine wow uses is very old and not designed for modern gaming.
