I own a X-fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro series and I want to upgrade my X-350 Logitech speakers to a real audio system like the Z-5500. I mention this because a friend has it and they sound great to me.... or any other recomendation for my card???

The only bad thing is that rear speakers are not wireless....

If you guys have other in mind for the price range of this.. your are welcome to reply.... :D

Wireless is rubbish anyway.

Well they are great speakers for the price bust most people will tell you to get seperates like, amp and bookshelve speakers.

Well I have the Logitech Z-5450 and I don't think wireless is rubbish ;)

Its a nightmare, especially the amount of people that have problems with it, some people want the wireless so they can go somewere else in the house and take the speakers, I mean if they want that they should buy a small radio.

What else do I need in order to get the best Experience? because I have a regular X-FI Xtremegamer Fatal1ty pro serie and now this Z-5500 ? I read in some other forums that I need some fiber cables and optical stuff, does anybody know about this? I dont want a concert audio type, but at least a decent home theater audio like... what else do I need to buy in order to acomplish this?

I'd buy a av amp and 5.1 speaker system. I'm using a Yamaha DSP-A592, B&W 601, B&W CC6, Kef Coda 7 rears, SVS PC Ultra 13 sub and it sounds fantastic.

Yamaha and Kef Coda 7 were free.
B&W 601 & CC6 were spares (upgraded HT, so not using those anymore)
Also have Arcam Alpha 9, using for the B&W 601's- Yamaha just used for centre, rears and sub.
PC Ultra 13 sub is for the HT, but also going to plug into PC audio system too. Got a PC Plus 20-39 Plus but upgrading to the Ultra.

So kitting out the PC audio system specifically, recently cost £100 (for the Arcam) But if you were to buy all that in one about £2100.

2.1k, I could get about 12 Z5500's for that , wire 12 of those up and the bass would be immense but of course bass aint everything.

For my 2.1 system for my PC I'm going for a Z2300 simply because HT's are too expensive and it would cost the price of my PC for anything decent, if only I was not a gamer I would have a propor 5.1 HT setup by now.

If you had 12 subs from the Logitech it'll go loud, but definietly not as low as a PC Ultra 13 sub.

It's not just about cost, it's about quality, build and upgradability. Seperates are pretty standard, PC speakers aren't. Better connecitvity also, my av pre-amp has 6 digital inputs, 5 coaxial, and about 10 analogue inputs. Compare that to a PC system with one input.

Apart from the sub and arcam amp, my PC audio system isn't anything special (compared to what I class as "good HT kit")

I rekon 12 10" logitech subs would be able to hit 20Hz, allthough I dunno because when I play a 20hz tone on my Z5500 you get this LOUD bass in the corners, and in other places too, must be about 30Hz even those its a 20Hz tone.

I honestly dont think that if I heard a £400 sub and compared it to my Z5500 I would hear much difference apart from the lower frequency, I still dont know whats wrong with my Z5500, I listin to music and it sounds normal to me  The bass can be abit boomy sometimes but I like that sometimes too.

No they won't, if you get 12 of them they'll play louder when set to the same levels, so maximum SPL output will be vastly higher, distortion will be vastly lower, but there is still a limition that you've got 12 subs with a F3 of probably around 30hz. Although there will be a increase in low bass it certainly won't be as low as a subwoofer that reaches down to 10hz.

You will do. Much like a Rel Q100E is rubbish compared to my 20-39 PC Plus. If the Logitech sub is inferior to the Logitech sub....and as for music, you've got the limition of sat speakers. For HT weakness for centre speaker- I've heard some sats (higher quality to the Log) and found them nasally tone, compared to my Kef Reference centre speaker.

The bass from my sub isn't boomy. And that's the difference. Just because you haven't heard anything better doesn't make what you have fantastic. Much like a person who's only driven a Yugo, thinking it's brilliant. Never driven a Rolls Royce, Merc or BMW.

What is your oppinion on a BK Monolith subwoofer?

Haven't heard it but well praised on the forums. However like all things it won't beat the higher end subs. I believe it's under performance envelope of the SVS 20-39 PC Plus, probably down due to enclosure size.

Enclosure seems huge

Yes it is. For a quality ported sub you need internal volume. Only with sealed subs can you have a small enclosure (compare a Velodyne DD-12 to SVS 20-39 PC Plus)

Not going down sealed versus ported disussion though.

Small, ported subs are usually a bad sign.

Would I be able to get decent sound from a different enclosure with the same 10" Z5500 driver?

Sigh down this road again....you need to find out specs for your driver, which Logitech won't devulge.

Regardless even if you do find out specs, and build a new enclosure you cannot get around the fact the driver in the log sub is probably low end driver, not using a quality driver ie Peerless XLS10.

No amount of superglue, sticky back plastic or polish can improve what you essential have as low quality parts.

Just save up for AV seperates.

I love my Z5500s. My room isn't that big so I don't need extremely powerful spkrs and watching movies is simply fantastic; they are more than enough and I can't imagine having them at full volume for watching movies.

Tbh they sound fantastic in almost every configuration but could do better when it comes to playing metal.
